The ambush

Chapter 37

-- Isaac --

An hour left before we landed back to Greece, I need to arrive first before Anika so she won't get wonder what is happening. I closed my laptop and took a nap so Anika won't noticed my puffy eyes due unable to sleep last night, trying to figure out how can I outwin the Italian mafia's. 

I was woken up by Henry, we finally landed, I just have to wait for Anika another hour before she arrives. I can finally see and touch her, I know I can only sleep peacefully with her by my side.

I hugged Anika as soon as she walks down the airplane staircase.

"2 days felt like 2 years to me" I said while hugging her tightly. 

"Someone is trying to be sweet" She said teasing me which I return with a glare, she just laughs and bring out something. 

"This one is for you" She handed me the award which I guessed she received from the convention. 

“Really? How thoughtful my wife is, is this really a present or a bribe? I heard Stephen attended too.” All I thought she will try to defend her part but she just laughs at me, which makes me even more jealous. Does she had a great time with him?

“C’mon stop being jealous, it doesn’t suit you .” She said while we climb inside the car, still chuckling.

“Excuse me, as far as I know I am Isaac Carson who suits everything.” I said while I sit beside her.

We headed home still teasing each other, she seems so happy to the point that she was able to share it with me.

We had a quick dinner and went straight to bed after shower. As usual I used the bathroom in the other room.

“I missed this” I said while hugging her on the bed.

“I can’t sleep properly without you by my arms” I added, she suddenly slap my arms.

“Stop being so cheesy, it's getting creepy.” She said then laughs again, it's a music to my ears.

“I love you my Anika” I utter before going into slumber.

I finally had the sleep I needed, it felt so fulfilling. I took and bath and change immediately, I decided to cook breakfast for Anika so I went downstairs directly to the kitchen. 

I prepared waffles and bacon and her sterilized milk while coffee for me. 

"Wow! So delicious" Jake said looking at bacon, I just grin while I put it a plate, 

"My friend finally cookes something for me" He added while sipping on his coffee. 

"Shut up, this one is not for you." I said while carrying the tray walking out of the kitchen. 

"Just let me eat that, Anika is on diet" I heard him shout while I walk through the stairs going into my room but I pay no attention, knowing Jake he can tease me all day. 

I open the door and Anika was no longer on the bed, I place the tray on the table on the balcony. Maybe she's busy preparing in the closet. I've done preparing the foods on the table when she finally arrives with her glamorous look. She is wearing a white long sleeve blouse tied with ribbon at the center and a green button down skirt that shows her slim legs. 

"I think the skirt was too short" I said pointing at her skirt. 

"Well I think the food was delicious, is that for me?" She asked changing the topic again. I just sigh on how she manages to do so. 

“Of course! I woke up early just to cook for your breakfast.” I replied nanchatly

“Is that a sentence that needs to be answer? Or is it’s just a narrative?” She said while putting the napkin in her lap.

“Just eat and stop and turning the tables” I joined her on the table.

I eat quietly while she keeps on glancing and smirking while putting food on her perfectly curve mouth.

After eating she went back to the bathroom while I go downstairs to prepare the car, I will drive her going to hospital. After a few minutes she walking down the stairs with all her beauty.

“Why do you need to always look that beautiful when you go to the hospital?” I asked while I assist her getting inside the car.

“I always look beautiful wherever I go. Why? You doubt my physical appearance now? Why? Are there days I look unattractive?” She said raising her brow, now the blame is on me again.

“That’s not what I meant” I explained while trying to focus on the road.

“Have you been with other girls while I’m away?” She suddenly asked which makes me nervous.

“What? Of course not! I—“

“You better not Isaac Carson-“

“ Or else I will operate that heart of yours” She said glaring at me.

I just laugh with that thought, this woman is really unique. So witty and good at reverse psychology. that makes her far different from any other woman that just throws themselves at any guy whom they met, and I’m glad I’ve found this one precious woman. 

"You know that is cute, you look even more attractive in my eyes" I said while I forced myself to control from laughing trying not to reached the peak of her patience. 

"So your doing things on purpose now huh?" She said which makes my laughter bang on the car. 

"You are driving me crazy My Anika" I said still trying to focus on the road. 

We stayed like that for a few more minutes until we reached the hospital. I climbed out the car to open Anika's door. I kissed her head before she leaves and walks inside the hospital, on my way back I saw Stephen getting out of his car. I purposely bumped my body into his. 

"What is your problem dude?" He said looking so pissed which I am enjoying.

"Next time you linger around Anika, I will make sure you will see no heaven." I didn't wait for his response and passed by him. 

I drive fast out of the hospital going into the office followed by three black cars. I am already five minutes away from the office, still my mind is with Anika, I know they are here already looking for her, so I need to double her guards. I think she needs to stop going to the hospital for the meantime to secure her safety. I was into my thoughts when a gray car suddenly stops and blocked my way, followed by three more cars. I pressed the brake hard turn to the left to refrain from hitting it. Men in black suits holding a gun climb out of their car while shooting my car, good thing this one is  bulletproof. Men guards immediately shoot fires while I get out of my car and exchange shoots also, I know these men are trying to get Anika by eliminating me but I won't let that happen, and they are fool to even think of that

I shoot them one by one while I walked towards them, leaving no breath for everyone but left one whom I shoot first at the feet. I noticed the mafia tattoo symbol on his on his hand. 

"How lame to even think you can come here and get out alive?" I said while my left foot stepping on his chest. 

"Give us the prin--" I shoot him in the head, I need not to let him finish because what his about to say. 

I am about to go back on my car when a man who came up no where wearing gray suit and sunglasses shoot me, it was too late for me to evade the bullet, ,my reflexes immediately shoot him also. We bought have gunshot and and bloody lying on the road, I was shot by my right chest while him on his head. 

I saw Jake running towards me, followed by the others, I thought about Anika, I need so stay alive for her.  "Stay awake Isaac, the ambulance is on its way" I heard Jake but I did not pay attention it. 

"Anika" I utter before I lost my consciousness.
