It was 7:30 a.m. at Angela's house.
"Dad, I'm almost done!" Angela called from upstairs. "Just give me a minute. I'm getting dressed."
She looked at the time and sighed.
"Oh my word! I'm running late. It's my first day at the university."
Her father smiled from the living room.
"Hurry up and come downstairs for breakfast."
"I'm coming, Dad!"
A few minutes later, Angela came downstairs carrying her backpack.
"Dad, what's for breakfast?"
Her father chuckled.
"Go to the kitchen and make yourself a cup of tea. Since your mom isn't around, you don't expect me to do everything."
Angela pouted.
"Dad, stop being mean."
"I'm not being mean," he replied with a smile. "I'm just telling you the truth. I have to get to work, and my job is important."
Angela folded her arms.
"My school is important too."
"I know it is," her father said. "Now go and prepare your breakfast. I'm not hungry this morning."
"Okay, Dad."
Angela walked into the kitchen and prepared a cup of tea. She ate three biscuits with it before washing the cup and cleaning the kitchen.
A few minutes later, she returned.
"Dad, I'm ready."
"Good. Let's go."
They walked toward the car.
Just as they were about to leave, Angela's father's phone rang.
It was Angela's mother.
Her father answered the call and handed the phone to Angela.
"Hi, Mom!"
"My beautiful daughter! How are you?"
"I'm fine, Mom. I miss you so much."
"I miss you too."
Angela laughed.
"I even miss your food. Dad made me prepare my own breakfast this morning."
Her mother laughed.
"Really? Why are you stressing my daughter?"
Angela's father smiled.
"I'm a man. You can't expect me to spend all my time in the kitchen."
Her mother teased him.
"So you still haven't changed?"
He laughed.
"When are you coming home? We miss you."
"I'll be back next month. Work is keeping me busy."
Angela smiled.
"I can't wait to see you."
"I can't wait to see you too."
Angela looked at the time.
"Mom, it's already 8:30. Dad and I have to leave."
"Of course. Today is your first day."
"Yes."
"Take good care of yourself. And don't forget your glasses."
Angela adjusted her glasses.
"Don't worry, Mom. I'm wearing them."
"I love you."
"I love you too, Mom."
They ended the call.
Angela and her father got into the car and drove to the university.
A short while later, they arrived at the school gate.
Angela smiled.
"Thanks for bringing me, Dad."
Her father kissed her gently on the forehead.
"Good luck, my baby girl."
He hugged her warmly.
"Study hard and make us proud."
"I will."
Angela stepped out of the car, waved goodbye, and walked toward the university entrance.
The moment she entered the campus, almost everyone turned to look at her.
She was naturally beautiful.
Her long dark hair, gentle smile, and elegant glasses made her stand out.
Students couldn't help staring.
Angela became nervous.
"Why is everyone looking at me?" she wondered.
"Do I look strange? Is there something wrong with me?"
She lowered her head and continued walking.
"Oh God... please help me. Why is everyone staring at me?"
Not far away, Bella was walking with Maria, Stella, and Michelle.
They noticed that many students were looking in one direction.
Bella turned around.
Her eyes landed on Angela.
Stella couldn't help herself.
"Wow... she's beautiful."
Bella immediately looked at her.
Stella quickly became quiet.
Bella frowned.
"Who is she?"
She folded her arms.
"Is she trying to take my crown?"
"I've always been the most beautiful girl on this campus."
"Why is everyone looking at her instead of me?"
Angela walked past them without even noticing them.
She continued searching for her faculty building.
A few metres away, Jaden was talking with a few classmates.
Angela politely walked over to them.
"Excuse me."
Jaden turned around.
"Yes?"
"I'm a new student. Could you please tell me where the Faculty of Social Sciences is? I'm in the Department of Mass Communication."
Jaden smiled politely.
"That's where I'm headed too. I'll show you."
Angela smiled.
"Thank you very much."
"My name is Jaden."
"I'm Angela."
"It's nice to meet you, Angela."
"It's nice to meet you too."
The two of them began walking toward the Faculty of Social Sciences together.
From a distance, Maria noticed them.
"Oh my gosh... Jaden is walking with her."
Michelle frowned.
"What is she doing with my Jaden?"
Bella looked at both of them.
"Your Jaden?"
Michelle quickly shook her head.
"No... I didn't mean it like that."
Bella narrowed her eyes.
"Come on. Let's follow them."
The four girls quietly followed Angela and Jaden from behind.
