The Cafeteria Confrontation

688 Words
It was lunchtime. Some students were eating in the cafeteria, while others stood outside chatting and laughing with their friends. The cafeteria was crowded, and almost every table was occupied. Mark walked into the cafeteria with Bella by his side. Behind them were Maria, Stella, and Michelle. Mark looked around. "There isn't a single empty seat," he said. Bella looked around as well before pointing at a table where a male student was eating alone. "There," she said. "Let's go." The two of them walked over to the student's table. Bella looked at the boy. "Stand up. We want to sit here." The student looked at her nervously. "I'm sorry... I'm still eating." Bella frowned. "I said, stand up." The boy remained seated. Michelle arrived carrying Mark's food, while Bella held his bottle of water. Maria and Stella stood behind them, waiting for the student to move. From another corner of the cafeteria, Jaden quietly watched everything. Mark looked at the student without saying a word. For a moment, the student thought Mark had decided to leave him alone. Instead, Mark walked to another nearby table, picked up another student's carton of juice and plate of food without permission, returned to the boy's table, and poured the juice and food over the student's head. The cafeteria fell silent. Everyone stared in shock. Bella, Maria, Stella, and Michelle burst into laughter. Mark pointed at the table. "Now clean this place. I want to sit here." The frightened student slowly stood up. Before he could begin cleaning, Jaden stood from his seat and walked over. "Don't do that," Jaden said. The student looked at him. "Why are you listening to him?" Jaden continued. "He's just another student like you. Why are you afraid of him?" Mark turned toward Jaden. "What does this have to do with you?" Jaden folded his arms. "You have no right to control everyone in this school." Maria stepped forward. "Do you know who he is? His father is a senior police officer." Bella nodded. "Jaden, you've just joined this university. You haven't even spent two days here, yet you're interfering in things that don't concern you." Mark smiled coldly. "So, you want to be part of my story now?" Jaden smiled back. "If that's what you want, then let's play our roles together." The atmosphere became tense. The students watched quietly, afraid that a fight might break out. Mark stared at Jaden for a few seconds. He realized Jaden was the only student on campus who dared to challenge him. Bella gently touched Mark's arm. "Please, let's go." After a long silence, Mark looked away. "Let's leave." Without another word, Mark walked out of the cafeteria with Bella and the three girls following behind him. Jaden turned to the frightened student. "You don't have to let people treat you like this." The student lowered his head. "We don't have a choice." Jaden looked around at the other students. "Why are all of you so afraid? Mark is your classmate, not your master." No one answered him. The cafeteria remained silent. Everyone returned to their meals, but the tension remained in the air. After school, Mark returned home. As soon as he entered the house, his mother greeted him with a smile. "Welcome home, my baby. How was your day?" Mark threw his school bag onto the sofa without saying a word. His mother frowned. "Come and eat." "I'm not hungry." She walked closer to him. "What happened?" Mark clenched his fists. "Who does Jaden think he is? He came to school today and has been trying to challenge me. He's the only person who keeps talking back to me." His mother looked surprised. "Didn't you tell him who your father is?" "I did. Everyone did." "And?" "He said he doesn't care." His mother sighed angrily. "I wish your father were in the country right now." Mark nodded. "So do I." "He would have dealt with this Jaden." Mark remained silent, his mind filled with anger. For the first time in years, someone had challenged him without fear. And he knew this was only the beginning.
