Chapter 11Feeling like a new kid on the first day of school, I shouldered my way through the dressing room door on the day of my first game of the ball hockey season, which happened to be against the Sharks. I’d tried to time it middle-of-the-road—not so early as to look like a keener, but certainly not late. As a result, the room was about half-full when I arrived. Abby did the intros. I knew some of the players by name, but not others. Most were familiar faces at least. “You’ll play on the third line, for tonight,” Abby said. “Rotating at centre with Sally.
