Maybelle’s POV
Darkness was the only thing around me. It seemed like a black hole, consuming my entire existence. My limbs were weak. Where was I? I tried to remember what was happening around me. I was in the alpha ball that my father hosted. I saw my mate there! My mate! The alpha king of the Northern Lands. His scent was alluring. A faint trace of pinewoods was still lingering in the air. Was that only my imagination? I did not have an answer.
Then I remembered Ethan forced me to leave the ball and dragged me to my father’s study chamber. He sprayed something on me there. I felt unusual and my wolf became weak. She was still weak. I could sense that. She was hardly responding. What did he do to me? Oh, Ethan! Why was he behaving like that today? I did not know him anymore!
