The rays of sunlight broke through the curtains but her eyes were opened already, completely stripped of sleep. Dull and blurred with tears. She blinked and the tears fell. She was into the third week, yet she remained tormented from her past. She bit her lips hard and sat up on the bed. Her silk black straight long hair looking slightly disheveled. She stared out into nothingness until the knock on the door came through. She swerved her neck to the door as the knock came through again. She sighed and climbed out of bed, making her way to the door and opening it. The pretty room service waitress smiled. "I didn't order breakfast", she voiced but the next door across hers opened and the young man popped out his face. "I was hoping we could have lunch together too", he smiled. Lana Cowell sighed. She needed none of this. "I guess he hasn't had breakfast either. Tell him I'm good on my own", she smiled at the waitress and locked the door on their faces. It's been weeks since she fled but why wasn't she freed from the past. It was a completely different town. Completely far away but why did her mind remain stuck and locked up in that house. Why wouldn't it just pity her and leave the past behind? Her tears fell again.... *** Kira stirred in bed with a smile. The soft feel of the bed made her smile even more brightly with her eyes still shut. Her beautiful smile turned into little giggles till she pulled the sheets over her head. Giggling like some teenage girl, she popped her head out the sheets again, this time with her eyes open. She looked around and stretched. That has been the best sleep of her life in a long long time. Her eyes caught the wall clock and she gasped, turning to jump out of bed when she found the hot air oozing out the mug of hot chocolate. A sticky note to it saying, "TO MY SUNSHINE. I LOVE YOU". Her cheeks turned red. "He must have been here minutes ago" - she thought to herself and rushed for the mug. She drew in a breathe and loved it. She took a sip. Wanting to see his face already, she hurried out of her room, only to meet Lydia clearing the dining. "I guess you were that tired", Lydia scoffed. Kira smiled, "goodmorning Lydia", she walked up to the older woman. "Just know, lunch is on you. I'm not gon' treat you any nicer because you're the young Master's woman now". Kira blushed hard again at the fact she was called his woman. "I'll be back", she turned to leave but Lydia already knew. "He left", she voiced aloud and Kira halted. "Say five minutes ago". Kira pouted. She badly wanted to ask what time he'd be back, but she decided against it and simply sunk into the dining chair. "You're one weird girl", Lydia scoffed. "One minute, you're indifferent. Completely stoic like you care about no one and the next you're here being all cute over the young Master", the older lady chuckled. "Was I always indifferent?" Kira asked Lydia paused for a minute, staring at her, "what really happened to you? Were you really in an accident?" Kira smiled. "You're doing a lot of smiling too. I used to think you were a robot", Lydia scoffed. "Was I that different?" "Hmm. Completely! You're like a different person now", Lydia walked away and Kira followed her into the kitchen. "You barely said two words. You never broke any rules. You never slept in. You were always at the Master's Beck and call. The only time I ever saw you smile was with Mason. Sometimes it looked fake to me. I used to wonder what such a young lady had been through to turn out this way". Kira bit her lips. "...and that didn't change", Lydia smiled, "you were always biting your lips when you had nothing to say. When you are in pains. When you feel nervous. I noticed all of that". Kira simply smiled. It only made her wonder even more what has happened to the real Lana. "Don't forget lunch's on you. We're going grocery shopping too by evening". Lydia instructed and left the kitchen. Kira was left alone and she inhaled sharply. This was a brand new day of a new life. She had gotten tangled in all of this, and even worse, she had gotten greedy. She remembered last night and it brought the butterflies back. She was going to take last night as her seal of agreement, and no going back from this. Her life had changed already. There was no more backing out. She just had to adjust and even more, be happy at it. Who knew how long this would last? Who knew when Lana would be found? It could be this minute? She might ride with Mason on his way home? The thought of this alone caused her face to fall. The imagery of the hate on Mason's face if he were to drive in with the real Lana brought her pain already. For some weird reasons, she was okay with the look of disdain on her mom's face, on Harry's face but why didn't she want to imagine it on Mason's face??? She shook her head, and rubbed her stomach. "She must never be found yet!" - she muttered beneath her breath. Six months was Mason's plan to make her fall in love with him again, but six months was her plan to give her child and herself a new life. Connections and relationships are only built when there's something to gain from the other — love, emotional support, money, fame, name it! She's not being a monster! Mason's gaining his life together and she is too. It's an alliance. A win-win! She reassured herself again. She left the kitchen and headed for her room to shower up. *** THE JETSONS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.... The plane had landed already and she rolled her suitcase to her waiting vehicle. Her driver rushing forward with a bright smile, "welcome!', he bowed and took her suitcase from her, placing it carefully in the trunk as he held the door open for her. She sat in and the door closed shut. Her eyes following here driver as he rushed round to the driver's seat. "How was it in China?", He asked with a smile. She sighed, "a trip I'm happy it came to an end". "Was it that bad?" "Drive to Mason's Carl. I'll be resting there", she voiced with a smile. "Sir Mason's?? But your father.... "To Mason's, Carl". "Yes ma'am".
