Chapter 4: The Transmigrator and Aileen (4)

1387 Words
One day, a rumor suddenly spread like a wildfire in the capital. It was a rumor that should have not reached the public ears only if no one's actually trying to stain the reputation of the royal family. The king had it investigated but all they found out was a cloaked figures started it from the market, then in the bar, then in the main plaza where many people lazed around and played ancient chess. No one knew who they were. The rumor wouldn't have been controversial if only it was not too far fetched. It was said that the Crown Prince fell for a young but beautiful maiden of commoner status. It should have evoked the romanticism of the masses but the rumor also mentioned that the said woman was actually a two-faced slut. It said that to support her avaricious hobbies, beauty regimes, excessive food and unnecessary articles, she has linked to many wealthy men of every age range. There were still other accounts like she used her body to serve in the red light district, or that she's also seeing a powerful person in the government while seeing the Crown Prince. The stories were so malicious that the masses have been looking for that woman! Of course, the royal family faced the brunt of these spiteful rumors as the Crown Prince was called stupid, a cuckold, and very irresponsible for choosing such woman to be the future queen of the kingdom. It was so harsh that people decided to petition against their relationship. The one story that should have sprouted good feelings only made their teeth gnashed even in sleep. "Who dare!" shouted Prince Rhomeo while his right-hand man and bestfriend Allan silently supported on the sideline. "Who can be this cruel to create dishonest stories about you and Ms. Aileen," murmured Allan in furrowed brows. "I want this to be thoroughly investigated, Allan. I'll have that person beheaded for this!" "Of course. But Rhomeo, do you think those were baseless accusations?" he asked as his best friend. "Of course! If you've met her you'll know how wonderful she is," he said while his expression softened considerably. Allan shook his head. His best friend has really fallen head first with this woman and he lost his mind in the process. But this was also his job, first check on this woman and then find out about the origin of all these evil rumors. Alcada capital was greatly divided into four integral directions. The North housed the Royal Castle, to the west was the residence of the aristocrats, to the east was mostly barren because of the infertile land and where the slum has also taken their dwellings, and lastly the southern area was for the merchants and various industries, markets, restaurants, inns and lodgings and many others. Aileen's household was located in south-eastern part of the kingdom and almost at the edge of the capital. This was the only place where crops may be cultivated since it was also closed by the vast unnamed forest. It was a peaceful location and yet the rumors about the Crown Prince and some immoral commoner girl reached them. "Big Sis, is that Big Brother Rhomeo they're talking about?" asked Chichi while holding her hand. "Hm?" she hummed without really listening. "You heard Aunt Betha, Big Brother Rhomeo was chasing an evil witch. I thought he's chasing yo—ump!" "Chichi, be good. Spreading such rumors about the Royal Family will leave you headless," she looked around the small market as people nervously shut their mouths. They just remembered that it was the Royal Family they're slandering. When the two arrived home, Chichi won't be appeased unless her Big Sis said that Brother Rhomeo wasn't chasing anyone aside from her. "I already told you, this is something only old people talk about. Little kids should be good and play." "But, but, Big Brother Rhomeo promised he'll love no one but you!" her tantrum. She had liked that sunny man who'd always help them without asking for any of their harvest unlike all the aunties and uncles nearby. He would always come to cheer them up and sometimes even help them secretly with their finances. She understood that he liked her Big Sister but she couldn't understand why people would say bad things about him. Ye Ai sighed. She just remembered how she hated talking with a very curious four years old who probably didn't understand what she knew. "Remember this, Chichi, not everything people say is true; most of the time they lie for many reasons. And not everything they show either can be true; most of the time they act for many reasons. Finally, no one never changes, that's why grow up first and learn before you open your mouth to blame anyone." "Ah? I don't understand, Big Sis!" "See, I told you this is something we old people talk about," of course she did it intentionally. If she tried to explain the little bundle of curiosity will never stop asking for more! "I can't understand! I wanna grow up now!" "Chichi, be good. Ask your Big Bro Carron how's he feeling now," she surreptitiously shooed her. [Host Ai, you're correct again.] Her system suddenly burst out. "Of course, I am." [Normally, this kind of plot will end wonderfully in everyone's ears. How come they're cursing you now ah?] "Well, we can only say that the transmigrated woman was of talent and mind," she said casually. Of course she knew that's how it should have happened but since she did something. At first, she was still half-hearted since she wasn’t sure if she can still do it but then it turned out well. So everyone's fine. Or not. [What is our next step?] "Xiaoyi—" [I am not mad, I am not excited, I don't need to be good ah!] "That's not—" [What then?] "I'm just gonna ask if you've seen Little Bai?" [That rabbit.] "Yes." [You're looking for a rabbit when we're talking about our plans??] "Can't I?" [...] "Well?" [I don't know.] "Okay." [Host Ai...] "Yeah?" [You're bullying me...] "Can't help it, you're too cute." [...] "Did you blush?" [I don't have a face!] "What did you feel then?" [Hot.] "Then you did blush." [...] "Squeak!" "Now you remember me, Little White?" Ye Ai asked the white lump that suddenly jumped from somewhere from their house into her embrace. "Squeak!" "Why do you sound like a rat?" "Squeeeeeak!" "I'm also just bullying you," Ye Ai can't help chuckling. This kind of things was better. She hated talking with the always untruthful people and instead liked it better when she's playing around with her system before and now System 3611—Xiaoyi, and there's another now, this Little Bai or Little White. "Squeak! Squeak!" "I don't understand you." "..." (Little Bai) [He's asking you for food.] "Oh, you understand rabbit language too, Xiaoyi? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" [Ei! I don't! That abnormal thing only knows how to eat ah!] "Abnormal?" [Yes.] "How so?" she asked while handing little Bai with fresh vegetables. [It seemed to hear me.] "Really?" [See, it won't squeak when I'm talking.] "Why don't you try to talk to it then?" [I did but...] "It didn't squeak back?" [Um, but it still kept quiet when I'm speaking.] "This little guy sure is smart, isn't it?" "Squeak!" "See?" "Sque—!" [Host Ai... it really can understand us?] "Seems so," she watched the little white thing in front of her intently. When talking with their system, any host will have a special field where they can talk without affecting the flow of the world. This also helped cover the identity of any host against the world law. Only another system or an intelligence connected to the network can join this exclusive field. But she and her system had already checked this little rabbit, not only twice but many times. She even tried while it's unsuspecting or when asleep. But all resulted into normal, a native of the current world. "What are you then, Little Bai?" "..." (Little Bai) [It's abnormal.] "Squeak!" [You're the abnormal! You're whole family's the abnormal!] "Squeak!" [!!!] "Xiaoyi, be good." [...] "Squeak!" In the eyes of Ye Ai and System Xiaoyi, that particular rabbit seemed a bit smug.
