Chapter 8

1005 Words
With the thought of Rita, she felt so lonely and wondered when she’s ever going to see her again, she missed home, she missed the night she would have a conversation with Rita before going to bed, maidens are not allowed to leave their Masters home, except being instructed by their Masters, or, the maidens are being sold out to another Master. She shrugged off the thought as she said, “Father wouldn’t even buy the idea.” She gave out a loud hissing sound. After she stood for some minutes, while staring at the beautiful stars, Hazel walked back to lay on her bed, slowly, she slept off as soon as she could. The day broke as fast as Hazel imagined it to be, It was a beautiful Saturday morning, the sun hit hard as it tried to escape from the sky, Hazel walked outside the Chambers, admiring the beautiful flowers in the garden, and also the fresh breeze that enveloped her. She paused her pace as she heard voices, voices of kids practicing with swords, on how to fight and defend themselves, she calmly went closer as she leans her body against the wall, while watching the kids practice hard, it reminded her so much of her childhood, her mother made sure to teach her well. “Oh! Mother, I coursed the day you died.” She whispered to herself, anger fuming inside of her, she needed to do something fast to erase her mother’s memory, else it would definitely consume her. “Who wants to play?” Hazel spoke aloud to the kids hearing, they all turned to focus on her. “Good morning my Lady” All greeted. “Who would like to challenge me?” Hazel asked, as she walked and stood in the center of the kids, the kids were all surprised to hear her words, of course no one dares to challenge her, she’s Lord Luther’s Wife, a noble man known for his bravery and strength. “I would challenge you, my Lady!” one amongst the kids said aloud. Hazel was moved by the little boys bravery, non of the kids could speak up boldly, except him, what a courageous little boy. Hazel walked to him, and bent down to take a close look at him. “What’s your name little one?” she asked calmly. “Lancelot, my Lady.” He answered as he gestured his head down in respect. Hazel nodded her head, while smiling at the little boy, she took a step back as she glanced at the other kids, who stood scared, anticipating what happened next. “Come and show me what you’ve got.” She spoke aloud, gesturing for the little boy to come forward. She ordered one of the kids to hand over his sword to her, and the fight began. The little boy was quite skilled, he was very defensive with his sword, and he knew exactly how to fight hard without giving up, that was actually brave of a little boy. “Who taught you how to fight and defend yourself?” Hazel asked him, with the clanging sound of the sword, between Hazel and Lancelot, the other kid could barely hear Hazel’s conversation with Lancelot. “Lord Luther, my Lady.” Lancelot responded with a sharp breath. Hazel could tell that Lancelot was tired of fighting, so she needed to stop fast, before he collapsed, his strength and her strength were never the same. “You fought so well Lancelot, you need to drink some water to catch your breath.” Hazel said to him. “Thank you my Lady for this privilege.” Lancelot replied calmly. Just as Hazel was about to say a word, a voice cuts her off, the voice she fantasized last night, in anticipation of hearing it this morning. “I see the kids are keeping you company?” Luther said as he walked towards the kids. “Good Morning, Lord Luther.” The Kids Chorus. “Good morning All.” Luther responded as he ruffled Lancelot’s hair. The Kids left immediately, leaving Luther and Hazel alone. Luther stared at Hazel, but Hazel wasn’t staring back, and that really made him unease, “What have I done wrong?” He thought to himself. “Hope you slept well, Wife?” he asked calmly. “Yes my Lord.” Hazel replied coldly. Luther suspected something was wrong, Hazel has never called him, Lord, since they got married. “Won’t you ask about mine?” he asked. “It is very obvious you slept peacefully, my Lord.” She emphasized on the word, Lord, because she knew Luther would definitely get irritated with that word coming from her. He respects her so much and wouldn’t want her to call him, Lord, just as other people do, She’s his wife, they both share equal rights, she should be treated differently from others, with love and respect, he prefers her calling him, Luther, or, Husband, that really shows love. “I don’t appreciate you calling me that, wife, don’t call me that, he said as he looked deeply in to her eyes, did I do something wrong?” he asked genuinely. Hazel kept mute ignoring his question, his gaze intensified, he walked closer to her, but she moved back at each step of Luther, he paused as he gawked at her. “Are you angry with me?” he asked, his soft voice pierced into Hazel’s heart, but, she refused giving up, yet no answers from her which got him uncomfortable and restless. “Please talk to me, wife.” He added, pleading for Hazel’s response. Hazel quickly turned to leave, but he gripped her hand, and carried her in his arms to her room, Hazel tried escaping from his hold, but his masculine arms wouldn’t let her. “Let me go! Luther!” She screamed as she blew some punches at his back, but Luther on the other hand, is a man that never succumbs easily.
