After we had eaten our dinner, and I had spent time with Lena and the girls discussing school. It wasn’t long before I was seeing that Lena wanted to call it a night. I had to admit that she looked wiped out. I knew that she must have been living on nerves and adrenaline all day, and now that the adrenaline high had worn off, she was about to crash.
“Love, are you ready to turn in?” I asked her, knowing that she wouldn’t tell us how she was feeling of her own volition. She looked over at me and nodded. I stood up and waited for her to do the same. Once she was on her feet, we said goodnight to the girls and made our way back upstairs to the third floor.
