CHAPTER 43 —The Crossroads Carolyn As I decided to head back towards the borders of silvermoon where Rowenna resided, I took a different route that passed through the forest because it was shorter. Soon the tarred road slowly disappeared, the asphalt thinned into gravel, the gravel broke into patches of dirt, and before long the path ahead was nothing more than tire-worn earth weaving through the trees. I slowed the bike, the engine hummed beneath me, its vibration traveling up through the handlebars and into my sore palms. My fingers were still blistered from the long ride, the skin burned where the grips had rubbed against it for hours.
