CHAPTER 38 —Ink That Burns (Carolyn’s POV) “I don’t know how to control this,” I whispered to the empty shed and the wind stirred again, like it heard me. But I needed to do something to calm the situation and I needed to do it fast because the wind was getting out of control and I was literally freezing to death. I pulled in a slow breath and remembered something Rowena had told me before I left. When power rises, breathe, your body listens to your mind before it listens to instinct. I straightened slightly and closed my eyes. I inhaled with a deep slow breath, the cold morning air slid into my lungs, sharp and clean. I held it there for a moment before letting it out carefully. Again, inhale, exhale. Gradually the tension in my shoulders loosened, the uneasy feeling inside my chest
