CHAPTER 17—The Witch’s War Carolyn “I'm leaving!” I said, still trying to catch my breath, I wasn't about to die helpless in a witch’s cursed fortress. “I’m not staying here,” I said, my voice thin and frayed. My legs still shook beneath me, my knees were weak as newborn fawns, but I forced myself upright anyway. Rowenna didn’t move to stop me at first, she just stood near the hearth and watched me. “You can’t leave just yet,” she said quietly.
