Kai's pov

Kai Fairchild had grown up in a loving home with his Beta father, mother and older brother until 1 year ago when he was exiled from his pack although his family protested to no avail because as much as they wanted to they couldn't go against their Alpha's orders.

Kai who was 19 year's old had a masculine beauty with his blue eyes that looked like two sapphires and short chocolate brown hair he was fairly short for a werewolf as he was only 5 foot 7 inches but tall considering he was an Omega the tallest Omegas would get is around 5 foot 5 inches regardless of gender.

Unlike other Omegas despite his lack of muscle he was as strong as a typical Beta so he was able to train with the warriors of the pack, there was another thing which made him different he had an exceptional sense of smell even for a werewolf making him one of the best trackers in their pack.

The reason why he was kicked out of his pack was due to his unnatural abilities for an Omega the pack feared they would be targeted and in fear for there lives exiled Kai from the pack.

Even though Kai understood the reason why the pack did what it did it didn't mean he wasn't furious about it.

For the past year Kai had to constantly move around until he arrived at Lakeside about 3 months ago and found a job waiting tables in a restaurant called The Golden Rose "hey Kai can you help me with moving these boxes" Kai's co-worker Lisa said as she heaved a breath tired from trying to lift the boxes.

Lisa was the first person Kai met when he arrived at Lakeside and the pair became fast friends she was also the reason he was able to get a job so fast.

Kai looked at Lisa and smiled at her causing her face to redden even more even though Lisa knew Kai was gay he was exceptionally beautiful causing Kai to let out a little chuckle at his friends reaction "I'd be more than happy to beautiful" Kai said with a smile causing her face to turn even redder at his comment as he walked into the back room she muttered asshole under her breath knowing he was teasing her.

Lisa had short pink hair in a pixie cut with bright green eyes and three silver piercings in her right ear, she was a little shorter than Kai by about an inch but don't let her small stature fool you if anyone tried to hurt someone she cared about she would turn into a stalward defender.

Kai remembered one time when a customer had bumped into him spilling the customer's order all over him, the customer then proceeded to berate Kai saying it was his fault but before Kai could do anything Lisa jumped to his rescue and put the arrogant man in his place saving him from more than just a bruised ego.

Kai proceeded to pick up the heavy boxes in the storage area with ease due to his superior strength.

Kai thought back to first time he did something like this his co-workers stopped what they were doing and stared at him with slack jaws at the impressive sight Kai smiled at the memory of the faces of his co-workers as he finished moving the last of the boxes.

An hour later Kai was finished with work and walked out of the staff changing rooms after finishing his shift at the Golden Rose, when he was about to head out of the door Lisa called out to him "hey wait for me you i***t" Lisa said as Kai turned around while holding open the door to see her shrugging on a pink leather jacket as she walked up to him as she arrived at his side the pair then proceeded to walk to Lisa's car and driving home.

Lisa and Kai lived in the same apartment complex as roommate's as the car pulled up outside their 5 story apartment complex Kai quickly got out before looking back at Lisa with playful smile on his face "last one inside has to cook dinner" Kai said as he arrived at the entrance of the building.

Just before Kai entered the complex he heard Lisa shout "hey no fair you know that I have to park the car you jerk" Lisa said causing Kia to laugh.

Kai waves to Lisa as he entered the building "looks like you'll be the one cooking tonight" Kai retorted before he ran inside the building and caught the elevator to the 2nd floor where there shared apartment was located.

When the elevator stopped on the second floor Kai made his way to apartment 2D fished his keys out of his pocket before opening the door only to be ambushed by a little boy around the age of 4 "Big Brother Kai" the small boy shouted as he jumped into Kai's arms.

Although Kai wasn't really the young boy's older brother the young boy had called him that since the two had met and despite how much he and Lisa tried the young boy wouldn't call him anything else.

Kai caught the little boy easily "hey Max it's nice to see you too" Kai said as they were approached by an middle aged woman with with greying brown hair that was tied up in a bun on top of her head.

The woman was Max's babysitter Dalia who watched Max while he and Lisa were at work at the restaurant "hello Kai how was work" Dalia asked as Kia set Max down.

Kai looked at the middle aged woman with a smile "you know same old same old" Kai said with a shrug of his shoulders as Lisa walked in behind him.

When Max saw Lisa he greeted her with the same amount of joy as himself "mommy" he shouted before jumping into Lisa's arms while she peppered his face with kisses.

*muah*muah* "my sweet sweet little boy" Lisa said while Kai and Dalia stood at the door smiling at the mother and son pair as Kai paid Dalia for her services as he thanked her before queitly shutting the door.

As Kai watched Lisa and Max his smile turned into a frown as he felt a twinge of pain in his heart from missing his own mother who he hadn't seen or heard from in over a year but as Lisa and Max turned to look at him all traces of pain were gone.

Lisa was raising Max alone as his father had abandoned them the moment he found out Lisa was pregnant with Max, for the first few weeks Kai lived with Max and Lisa the young boy was incredibly shy around him but as the weeks passed the little boy warmed up to him and became the little bundle of energy he loved now.

Kai swore to himself that he would look out for and protect both Lisa and Max as they had become his new family after losing his old one.

Kai smiled at them before saying to Lisa "well since I won our little bet you'd better get to cooking slave" Kai ordered Lisa playfully causing Max to grimace at the thought of his mother's cooking.

Lisa upon seeing her sons reaction to the news "no way you cheated Kai plus you're the better cook I know you wouldn't want our little Maxie to suffer my cooking would you" Lisa said as she held Max up to Kai's face as he flashed a puppy like look at him.

Kai looked at the two and shook his head he was determined not to give in this time "oh no you agreed to it when we were in the car you just don't like that you lost" Kai said while Max kept up the pleading look.

Kai tried to keep up his strong act but eventually he sighed and gave into the Max's pleading look *sigh* "fine but I'm not doing this for you I'm doing this for Max now go and watch T.V while I get the food ready" Kai said as he made his way to the kitchen causing Lisa and Max to cheer.

Lisa and Max went to the couch and turned on the T.V as Kai cooked the food the newscasters voice could be heard throughout the apartment "in other news billionaire and philanthropist Ryan Winters will be coming to Lakeside to attend the charity gala this weekend" the voice of the newscaster faded away as Kai looked at the photo of Ryan Winters that appeared on the T.V with rapt attention.

As he stared at the photo Lisa fanned her face while looking at the photo "OMG he's fiiiiinnnee just look at that handsome face and his body he's so big I wonder what else is big" she said as she wriggled her eyebrows up and down while looking at Kai.

Kai looked at his friend not even surprised at her lewd remark "really so what if he's good looking it doesn't mean anything he could be a complete asshole for all we know" Kai said as his wolf Eco spoke in his mind through their link 'I agree with her he's fine with capital F' Eco panted like a dog in heat causing Kai to nod his head in agreement before he realised what he was doing.

Kai quickly shook his head 'Eco not you too even if he is incredibly....attractive you know I only want to be with my mate' Kai said causing Eco to scoff at Kai's response.

He could imagine Ecos face 'oh stop being such a prude our mate would understand if we slept with someone that looks like a greek god' Eco said trying to convince Kai.

'Nope not happening for me it's our mate or nothing' Kai said quickly dismissing Eco's proposal.

'Urgh you're such a killjoy' was the last thing Kai heard Eco say before blocking him out as he glanced one last time at the photo before concentrating on the food in front of him while Lisa continued to rant on and on just how sexy he was.

Kai didn't realise it but in the very near future his opinion of the handsome man they were discussing would dramatically change and he would be teased by both his wolf and close friend to no end.
