EPILOGUE – 133 DAYS (3196 HOURS THURSDAY AFTERNOON I’m sitting in Mum’s car, waiting to make my way home from the pre-natal care unit of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. I feel euphoric as I have just undergone my twenty-week scan as they’ve found no abnormalities. It was a delight to see my baby, but what’s more important is the scan has looked in detail at my baby's bones, heart, brain, spinal cord, face, kidneys and abdomen, allowing the sonographer to check for eleven rare conditions. Although nothing is ever guaranteed, I feel reassured having reached this stage in my pregnancy without the slightest indication of any problems. My family doctor has been wonderful. When I went to see him to discuss my pregnancy, he was very caring and understanding. He was reassuring, saying
