I knew because my phone started blowing up before I’d even finished my first cup of coffee.

Hospital group chat.
Unknown numbers.
_“Is this you?”_
_“Selene, what’s going on?”_
_“Damon sent this to the Council.”_
I didn’t watch it right away. I already knew what was on it.
Kade was in the kitchen, silent, watching me. He’d been up all night. Waiting.
“Don’t,” he said when I reached for the phone. “You don’t need to see it.”
“I need to know what they’re seeing,” I said.
I hit play.
Thirty seconds. No sound. Just visuals.
Me in the circle, eyes silver, snarling at Damon. My hands clenched, shoulders shaking, wolf too close to the surface.
