Chapter 6

*Beatrice's POV* Everyone in the room was silent, waiting for Seth to speak. I smirked as Urie visibly gulped. "I was told never to speak of you outside of Redwood Pack. Your identity as a human was undisclosed; Hans washed your clothes with a bottle of pheromones to disguise you. Only a select few of us knew who you truly were." he said very quietly, almost as if he couldn't believe i was sitting directly in front of him "When you turned 18, Hans informed me that you had decided to join the service. He was so proud of the woman you had become. He decided his time as an Alpha was over; he was ready to retire and went into hiding amongst the humans. I haven't heard from him since.." he trailed off, his eyes full of pity. Hans was the first one i called when Flinn was killed. He was a father to me when my own had sent me away. Hans must have called Urie. I wondered why; what could Urie have possibly done? "I didn't make the connection until i saw you this morning. I don't know how i didn't realize." Urie said sheepishly. "I haven't seen you since you were a teenager. Youve grown into a very beautiful and strong young woman." I blushed at his last sentence, feeling Seth's eyes on me. "Thank you. Hans really was fond of you, like the brother he never had." i smiled remembering them wrestling over the last cinnamon roll one morning in the dining hall. I would have to call Hans and update him on his old friend. "Well," Seth said, clearing his throat. "Shall we go over our options moving forward?" After a while we had finally agreed on a strategy. Seth would send Jackson and Ellie with a few of their other trackers to where i had last seen the two rogues; while Heidi and Felix helped Serena with finding more connections to Theo and the rogues. Urie would continue to train the warriors, and putting more wolves on patrol. Seth and I would go over my files in more depth and detail to see if we had missed any clues. As many times as i had went over these files, there wasnt much to find but i was honestly a little curious about Seth. What better way to get to know him than being alone working on the case files? Everyone said their goodbyes and headed out to prepare for dinner in the dining hall. I started to gather the files into my briefcase. "Would you like to join us for dinner?" i heard Seth behind me. I turned and his face was a mixture of hope and anxiety. I supposed i would need to meet all the other warriors and pack members at some point. "Sure." i smiled. Werewolves had it bad when it came to mate bonds. I knew he just wanted to be near me if he couldn't have me next to him. "Awesome, I'll come meet you at your cottage when its ready." he grinned wide. I couldnt help but smile back; his smile made my heart skip momentarily. A fleeting thought of Flinn asking me on our first date crosses my mind. I shake my head and follow him out the door. As i get to my cottage, i realize i have 2 or so hours until dinner is served. I decided to call Hans, it had been a few months since i had updated him. The phone rings a few times and im sent to his voicemail. I hang up, knowing he will see i called at some point. I sit down on the full sized bed, unsure of what to do with myself. Today has been very eventful to say the least. I pull Flinn's picture from my jacket pocket. Its him and I on our last trip together. Hes standing tall and proud next to me, grinning ear to ear. His blue eyes full of love. What i would do to hear his voice again. I wonder what he would think of Seth. And if he would be hurt that I had found my second chance mate. I push the thought of Seth away and decide to call Stevenson. I hadnt talked to him since i told him i landed safely. The phone rings once before he answers. "Well, if it isnt my favorite Foxx." He chuckles on the other end, clearly amused with himself. "Ha ha ha, hows it going back home Stevenson?" i say sarcastically. "Oh pretty quiet. But i was just about to call you. Someone came looking for you today." "Oh?" "Yeah, a wolf from up North. He didnt say why, just to let you know. He seemed off." I can tell he is worried. Not many people know of my residence at Redwood. Especially not many other wolves. "One of the Omegas told him you'd run off to Mexico. His name was Gregory. Ring a bell?" "No, I don't think I know a Gregory. Can you email me the surveillance footage?" "I can but I already went over it and he managed to coincidentally find our one blind spot in front of the packhouse." He says through gritted teeth. He really didnt like strangers showing up on packland, let alone looking for his best friend. "Just, please be careful and keep me in the loop. I have a weird feeling about this 'Gregory'." he said sincerely. "I will, I promise. That's actually something I wanted to talk to you about." I sighed. "I found my second chance mate." I whispered. "You.. what?" "Alpha Seth is my second chance mate!" "Oh.. well, that makes thing more complicated." "Ya think? What do I do? I already told him i need time and space." "Did he come creeping up to your cabin already?" I can hear him smirking over the phone. Flinn was his best friend, he knew everything about our relationship. Besides the s*x, obviously. "Yes, and he acts JUST LIKE FLINN. So much so, that I keep having flashbacks.." "Have you called your therapist lately? Maybe she could give you some insight." "You're right. I just.. why now? Why ME?" "You cant ask the Moon Goddess why. Just know that you are very blessed." he said seriously. I knew he was right. Wolves very rarely get a second chance. Let alone a human. I said my goodbye to Stevenson, assuring him I would update him later and call my therapist. After i hang up i hear footsteps on the front porch and a dull knock. I open the door to Seth waiting with a thin smile. "How long have you been out there?" I raise my eyebrow, knowing full well he heard my conversation with Stevenson. "Only a few minutes." He sheepishly looks at the ground, twiddling his fingers. "Come in, we have to talk." I say and open the door wide. He steps in, having to duck slightly to enter my cottage. I had to come clean about Flinn before this went any further.
