Chapter 9

*Beatrice's POV* I sat in Seth's office, numb and detached from reality. They had raided my cottage and took every last paper from Flinn's case. They had even managed to find my USB drive with the digital copy of the files. But how could they have known that I even had that USB? Only 3 people knew it existed. Which only means... "Patrick is working with Jackson and Ellie to find the ones who destroyed your cottage. Urie is attempting to contact Hans. He said it may be helpful to have a more experienced Alpha on our team." Seth was telling me but my mind couldn't seem to make my mouth form any words. "I know its upsetting but we are going to find your brief case. And even if we don't, I won't stop until we find the rogues who did this." I felt him grab my hand and squeeze. I finally looked over at him and he gave me a reassuring smile. "Seth. There are only a few people who knew I had that USB drive with the digital copies." My voice was barely above a whisper. "Who?" "Stevenson, Hans, Patrick, Felix, and you." My eyes started to swell with tears knowing I was betrayed. But by who? And why would either of them want my files? Seth's eyes glazed over for a moment as someone mindlinked him. "Urie was able to get a hold of Hans. He will be on the next flight here." Seth confirmed with me. "Why would Hans or Stevenson want to get rid of your files? Haven't they both been helping you?" "I have no idea. Stevenson has always dropped everything to help me." Come to think of it, he's always been more than eager to help. And when I told him I had found my second chance mate, he sounded more upset than surprised. I pursed my lips frustrated. "We will figure this all out, I promise. For now, I would really rather you stay in the packhouse. I can have them set up the guest bedroom next to mine." Seth's face was full of concern, I knew he would worry too much if I slept back in my cottage. "That sounds good. I think I'd sleep much sounder." His smile almost made me forget about all the awful things that have happened in the last few days. "I'll have the omegas prepare it for you." The chairs in his office were pretty comfortable though. I decided to lay my head back and close my eyes just for a moment, but when I opened them I was in a queen sized bed with a huge, fluffy, white comforter. I sat up straight, confused for a moment. I must have fallen asleep in Seth's office before they got my room ready. I glanced over at the clock on the table beside the bed. It read 9 AM in bright red. "s**t!" I scrambled out of bed, suddenly recalling all of last nights events. I needed to contact Stevenson and figure out just what the hell was going on. A knock from the door interrupted my searching through my clothes that had been hung up in the closet already. I cracked it open slightly to see Seth on the other side. His dark hair pulled back into a bun, wearing a grey tshirt and some blue jeans. "Hey." He said smiling down at me. I could only imagine what kind of trainwreck I looked like this morning. "Hey." I returned his smile, not really all that worried about finding clothes anymore. "Is that breakfast?" I finally noticed the tray of waffles and sausage in his hands. "Yeah, you seemed really tired when I carried you in here last night so I figured I'd bring it to you." His face flushed soft pink, and all of a sudden all I wanted was to kiss him. I bit my lip to stop myself. "Thank you, would you like to come in?" I opened the door wider so he could walk in past me to sit on the loveseat nustled in the corner. I closed the door and sat beside him, noticing he definitely brought enough for two. "Were you hoping I'd invite you in?" I smirked at him. His blush intensified and I started to giggle. "W-Well I mean I-" "I was planning on having breakfast with you anyways." I admitted casually, cutting up my waffle. "I was rushing to get my clothes cause I thought I had missed you." Seth's jaw dropped momentarily. The way this big Alpha was a love sick puppy around me was adorable. He finally closed his mouth and started to eat his waffles as well, throwing me side glances every now and then. After we finished out breakfast, Seth took our dishes to the kitchen while I got ready for the day. We hadn't been able to find my cell phone in the destruction of my cottage yesterday so I needed to get a new phone and replace a few other things. Luckily I had my picture of Flinn in my jacket pocket or they may very well have taken that, too. Seth agreed to have Patrick and a few other guards accompany me to the city nearby. He said he had a few meetings to attend for his company and prepare for Hans arrival tomorrow. Patrick was a great shopping partner though. He even carried all my bags for me. "So what do you think of Alpha Seth?" Patrick had asked me while walking to another store. "I think you already know, Patrick." I smirked at him. I had no doubt that Seth told him we were mates. "I think he's really sweet. He reminds me a lot of Flinn, actually." "Really? How so?" he asked intrigued. "They have very similar looks. Flinn had blue eyes though and kept himself clean shaven. But their personalities, too. It's kind of comforting to know the Moon Goddess is giving me a second chance." When we returned, Seth was still in his office so Patrick carried my stuff to my guest room and excused himself. I decided to set up my new phone and call Stevenson. I had his number memorized and luckily I was able to keep my old phone number. The phone rang several times and went to voicemail. Strange. Stevenson always answered my calls, at least to tell me he was busy and would call me back. Something was up with him.
