The Myth Of The Kraken

Chapter 1

The two moons Hypeon and Borealis were hardly visible in the crimson moonlight as the waves crashed gently upon each other. The sea seemed a delicate emerald while white froth stuck across the helm of the Dark Huntress as it sailed upon its destinations.

'Nah, dear Sam , that's aint how u do the sails young lady. During the winds the sail must point to the east ….' advised Adrie. She then walked over to the stern looking wistfully over the long waters and the shrinking clouds.

Adrianne was a little girl sailing towards The east of Mercado with her mother when their ship was attacked by a group of pirates. The captain of the herd Cutlass Leg took her and engaged her to be the slave of his daughter while her mother was killed and her jewels taken in front of her. The loss was unbearable for the little Adrianne. However Cutlass Leg's daughter Azure empathized for her and started hating her father. Slowly the two young girls became the best of friends and inseparable from one another. Azure plotted to free Adrianne from her father's t*****e so her best friend could live a life of her own. Upon the conquering of two Mercado navy ships while Cutlass Leg was inebriated with rum fantasizing of becoming the most feared pirate in the East Seas , Azure and Adrie slipped away from his guard. Each wore a hood believing no would identify them however just when they were to step their foot on the safe realm of Ustil, Azure was captured by Cutlass Leg herself. Young Adrianne however slipped away from the guards and haven been on a life of catch and run ever since. Soon Cutlass Leg defeated the navy and became the most feared pirate on the land with a fleet of five ships and three hundred pirates but his anger never went for the girl who ran away who betrayed and turned his own daughter against him.

Adrianne, accustomed to the way of pirates, acquired a ship of her own and a fleet of seven women and came to be known across the seas as Adrie of the Dark Huntress. However the chamfer of the hunter and Huntress was still on…..

'Smoke ho!' screamed Bertha. Adrie quickly adjusted her telescope and saw a ship of the navy at the horizon. 'Mertha adjusts sails, Sam port side , Careen and Salie ready the cannons, the navy seems to be emerging upon the starboard!!!!' ordered Adrie. 'Yoho, madame' screamed the pirates. 'But captain it's upwind..' shouted Eve from the top of the mast. Ignoring the pleas , Adrie walked towards the hem with her sword open. The navy ship slowly gathered sea upon the Dark Huntress and within moments was upon the canon range.

'Men prepare yourself for the battle for your nation !!!' ordered admiral Carragher. 'Women let's show these boys some fight !!' screamed Adrie. Both captains locked eyes for a moment before simultaneously shouting 'ATTACK'.

Canons bombarded, shots were fired and the pirates jumped to the Royal Navy ship down the ropes as the swords were barred. The crunch of swords and the thunderous sound of canons was the only sound one could hear for miles. Astonishingly Carragher just stood and watched the pirates humbling his men and jumping on his ship. The battle seemed too easy for the Dark Huntress. Lieutenant Smith had a crooked smile as he fought with Sam and eventually lost . Adire screamed 'Battle over ladies we won , take them as prisoners and keep them in the prow. The battle was too easy and Carragher seemed wanting to lose.

'hey easy will ya!!' protested Carragher as he was pushed upon the floor of the prow along with his men, 'You girls will be defeated when my reinforcements arrive!'. 'Only if they did' sighed Smith as the navy and pirates tried their best to hide a smile. 'What did you say Smith' asked Carragher. 'He meant you boys will always lose ' spoke Adire arriving from the door.

Smith coughed up and said 'Okay ladies and gentlemen time for some transparency. Mr Carragher and Miss Adrie we all know you have a fling for each other so no surprise that Carragher stood blindly at the helm as our men lost and it is also the reason our ships have been chasing each other like cats and mice. Seriously !!! It's sooo covert that it's overt!!'

'Oops' spoke Adrie with her cheeks turning bright red. 'Hey but no one was supposed to know …'said Carragher. Sam said 'Madame we are not fool enough not to identify a rosemary chicken'. 'Okay enough time talking trash . Yes me and Carry here do have a fling but still they are prisoners and they remain in the prow' replied Adire. 'Oh I am Carry ?woah ..' said Carragher surprised. The whole crew along with the prisoner chuckled but stopped at once at the stern face of Adrie.

'Madame smoke from the west!!!Seems like Cutlass is on it ' screamed Eve as she came running down from the mast ' . The pirates quickly came upon the deck and scanned the horizon to view the smoke. It was coming from far west but the smoke seemed to be travelling fast. 'At that speed madame, it will take at least half a day for the Leggy dude to reach us' spoke Bertha . 'Shut up no time for merry making free the navy we must fight as one and put off the lights if it really is Cutlass then he will have a hard time finding us' ordered Adrie. Carragher and his crew were presented over to the Captain of the Dark Huntress.Adire lectured the navy crew on her past and demanded that both of them fight as one to defeat the most feared pirate. Begrudgingly the Navy crew agreed with the exception of Carragher who seemed delighted by their union. 'At least no more pretending and chasing to see huh?' said Carry with a wink. Adrie ignored him as she drew up a shrewd plan to defeat Cutlass Leg and his five ships.

The stars sparkled and the waves crashed upon the Dark Huntress's hull as all the crew were engaged in deep conversation on finding a way to defeat Cutlass. 'Ladies and gentlemen we all know of the curse of the kraken as a legend but I believe it is not. The only way we can win this battle is by sailing towards the Isle of Unknown. If the legend is true then the mighty kraken will crush Cutlass's fleet .' spoke Adrie. 'But Adrie it's only a legend and even if it is true we need the jewel of portopia to arouse the giant but isn't it rumoured to belong with Cutlass Leg?'

asked Carragher. 'And madame let's say the mighty kraken does help us but won't it crush our ship too ?' enquired Smith.

'Yes Carry you are right the Jewel of Portopia does belong to Cutlass Leg, at least belonged .. but the day I and Azure ran away she gave me the Jewel of Portopia to keep it safe from her father. The Jewel belongs to me !' answered Adrie. The audience gasped and Carragher had a proud look on his face.Adrie took out the shining red diamond from her pocket and held it aloft.

'Pirates of Dark Huntress and men of navy set sail to The Isle of Unknown ' ordered Adrie. The Dark Huntress changed its course and set sail towards the north. Cutlass Leg's ships were now almost visible as they progressed rapidly.

Adrie and Carragher stood upon the portside as the pirate ship passed the mountains of Sicilia which were overlooked by huge stones strutting out of the sea curved in the shape of faces. The stones seemed to be looking right at the ships passing through the Mystic Straits.

Mists covered the waters beyond making it difficult for the Dark Huntress to sidestep the rocks.

Bertha asked 'What should we be doing captain mists all covered the seas. ' 'We go right into it,' replied Adrie. 'Aye aye captain' said the crew. The Navy and the pirates worked in unison to reach the Seas of Unknown before Cutlass Leg caught up with them. Eve perched upon the mast with a lens, announced 'Cutlass Leg is closing in gentlemen. Sail faster'. Cutlass leg and his troupe were almost within an arm's reach with both the ships seemingly racing to their doom in the mist.

'Young lass I am Captain Cutlass give up ur ship and yourself or we would not blast a hole in your hull..' thundered the voice of a pirate wearing a dark jacket of whale skin and swords in both of his hands. Cutlass leg stood upon the left port side of the ship rising above all his fellow pirates.

'Oh yeah? Remember me?? You want to catch me? Daresay you can't .' teased Adrie from the Dark Huntress. 'Pirates and navy sail faster than we are already upon the land of portopia. '

The two ships raced in the mist. Just when it seemed that Cutlass Leg was upon to bombard the Dark Huntress, Adrie raised her hand with a jewel which shone like a bright red star of the sea. Cutlass was awed by the Jewel and gripped with fear as he knew the legend of kraken by heart. Nevertheless in order to make a brave front, he said ' You think a tiny jewel would save you and your ship? I knew it was you who stole it the day I realized it was no longer with me. I will show you no mercy. I will maroon your crew and the accursed navy in an island and set sail your dead body on a piece of wood in the land of dead'

'Land Ho captain, portopia is in view. ' shouted Careen. Adrie knew it was time ..'Cutlass leg, you ever wondered how a girl like Adrie could steal your jewel? Because it wasn't Adrie. It was Azure. Yes I am Azure. I am your daughter. The day when the sky smelled like weathered metal, of freedom, of friendship, you captured Adrienne. You killed her, she sacrificed her life for me and on that day I made a promise to take my revenge. You have never been kind to me when I was a child I never knew my mother I cried countless nights seeing you t*****e those poor souls and I stole ur jewel. 'Cutlass Leg stood there struck by the truth, unable to do anything.

Azure knew it was time she threw the stone into the water hoping what she thought would happen. She wanted to rid the world of her father of the man who killed the only woman who had ever been a friend. The Jewel sank in the sea, lighting the waters blood red. Up came a shrilling yell as a monstrous creature kept out of the waters. Carragher steered the ship towards Portopia as the fleet of the Cutlass leg was crunched apart by the kraken.

Azure stood on the hem with tears glistening her cheeks as she watched her father die. The ship gently came ashore Portopia.

Carragher came upon Azure and Azure gazed at him with her bloodshot eyes. The Navy and the pirates sang 'pirates life for me' around a small fire they set up and drank rum. Carry and Azure gazed upon the ramparts of the broken ships sitting on the sand holding hands as Azure rested her head on Carry's shoulder…….
