I spent the next two hours trying to scrub the damn blood off the mirror. I had hoped that it would have vanished by the time I returned from my run. I had hoped that it had been a figment of my imagination. No such luck. I was down to the final washcloth before I took a step back to see the result of my hard work. The glass was still covered in red. The blood was now smeared in circles on the glass. I took a deep breath, flipped the cloth over on the other side, and stuck it under the water faucet. I watched the water turn red as it swirled down the drain before I glanced up at the mirror again. The words were back as if the past two hours hadn’t happened. The blood I had smeared everywhere had reformed into the hateful words that made my heart stand still. “Gods dammit!” Gods dammitI
