AWKWARD GOODBYE

--- Brittany’s POV The boys left us, but Sandra didn’t seem to notice the irritated looks they’d thrown her way over the way she ate. Charlotte and I exchanged a quick, knowing glance, but we stayed put — no point embarrassing her in front of everyone. When she finally finished, we all stood, and Charlotte and I took the plates to the kitchen while Sandra wandered over to join Sam and Axel in the living room, where a horror movie was playing. The moment we stepped into the kitchen, Charlotte muttered, “Babe, that girl eats like a pig. Even if someone offered me a million dollars, I wouldn’t date her.” Her voice was dripping with irritation. I tried to calm her. “Darling, don’t blame her. She’s from a poor home — you can’t expect her to eat like she grew up with silver spoons.” Charlotte raised an eyebrow but moved on. “So… how was school?” I smiled. “You’re asking that now? It was fine. Oh, and the pumpkin pie? Best I’ve ever had. Reminds me of—” Before I could finish, she kissed me repeatedly, and I knew exactly what she wanted. “Sweetheart,” I laughed softly, “not now. Later. We should watch something first.” She groaned. “You’re watching a horror movie, and you know I hate those.” “Not that,” I smirked. “I mean a real-life show.” She blinked. “What do you mean?” I grinned wider. “Sandra’s with them. Let’s go watch our own kind of entertainment.” Charlotte burst out laughing. “You’re terrible.” --- Axel’s POV A few minutes later, Sandra strutted into the living room and dropped herself next to Sam. He immediately went stiff, looking like a cornered rabbit. I nearly laughed out loud. “Uh, Sandy,” Sam started awkwardly, “isn’t it getting late? Maybe you should—” “My baby,” she cut in, wrapping her arms around his neck, “I can just tell my mom I’m staying here. I want to spend the whole day with you.” I raised an eyebrow. “Only child?” “Nope, I’ve got a twin,” she said proudly. “And your mom’s cool with you not coming home?” I asked. Sandra smirked. “She can never—” Sam interrupted, skeptical. “Are you sure?” “Of course. Unless you don’t want me here… then I’ll just go.” She snuggled closer, and Sam looked like he wanted to vanish into the couch. She kissed him. I lost it internally. “Uh… babe, not now,” Sam whispered, trying to peel her off. “My big bro’s here.” She shot me a glare, stood abruptly, and stormed upstairs. Sam, looking tortured, trailed after her. From the corner of the room, Brittany and Charlotte burst into uncontrollable laughter. “Was she really thinking she could act up in front of you?” Brittany wheezed. “Maybe,” I said, smirking. “Crazy,” Charlotte laughed. The whole room erupted again. --- Sam’s POV I followed her upstairs — not because I wanted to, but to keep her from making a scene. She went straight into my room, grabbed her backpack, and headed for the door. I stepped in her way. “Baby, what’s wrong? Where are you going?” She sighed. “Can’t you see your brother doesn’t like me?” I shook my head. “He likes you. He just… acts like he doesn’t. Don’t leave.” Truthfully, I wanted her gone. She softened. “Maybe next time. For now, I have to go. I’m not angry, okay? I love you.” She hugged me. Those were the magic words that made letting her leave easier. “Sure, babe. I love you too,” I said, kissing her lightly. She left. I went downstairs to find the others giggling. “What’s funny?” I asked. “Nothing, bro,” Brittany said, eyes sparkling. Axel smirked. “Thought she was staying the night with her baby boo?” I rolled my eyes. “Like I care whether she’s here or not.” “Oh, lover boy,” Axel teased. “Please,” I scoffed, “I just made her feel wanted. She’s a bad kisser, loud moaner, messy eater… even in high school, I’m not that desperate.” We all burst out laughing again. The rest of the evening was spent chatting and teasing until we finally called it a night. ---
