The Monday before Christmas Eve, Conley and Brian went Christmas tree shopping. “That’s huge,” Brian said when Conley walked around a tree in the middle of the lot. “It won’t look so big once it’s in the living room,” Conley retorted. “We can move the smaller sofa and side table away from the window and put the tree in their place.” “Well…” Brian continued walking through the lot, much to Conley’s amused frustration, checking out several other, smaller trees. They’d been looking for an hour, debating the merits of several choices but not able to settle on a tree they both liked. Conley was about to throw in the towel and accept the next one Brian picked.
