Kira completely lost it. She felt like her head was banged with a sledgehammer, “What?! You can't marry me off like that!” She argued. “And who says I can't?” He fires back. “Dad…” Kira realized that raising her voice won't solve the situation at hand so she brought down her tone, “...it's not just right. I mean…I'm still very young and I've…I don't even know the guy!” Kira thought of ways to talk her father out of his decision because that was the best she could do. Talk to him. “You don't need to know him. You should have known by now that arranged marriages are very common in our circles, so don't worry. You'll be fine,” Her father didn't want to hear her out. He started making his way out of her room but her voice stopped him. “Dad, You have to listen to me, I can't marry a random guy I don't know, what if we are not compatible? What if we hate each other and end up fighting every day and tearing each other apart one day, You don't want that do you?” “You're thinking too much,” His stare was as cold as his voice, Kira should have been used to it by now but this time her father wanted to separate her from the man she loved, “If the marriage doesn't work out you can decide to get a divorce if the contract they bring tomorrow has that, but if it doesn't then you can live like you don't know each other, that way things will be much easier,” “You don't care if I end up in a loveless marriage?” Kira watched her father in disbelief, if not that she shared features with him she would have doubted he was her father. “Do you want to remain unmarried for the rest of your life in my house? You should be grateful that I'm matching you with someone wealthy who can take care of you. Not like you're of any use,” He rolled his eyes at her with disdain. Will Kira ever know why her father hates her? Only the future knows that. “Dad, I work. For your company,” Kira was playing all the cards she had to see if she could get her father to change his mind. “And what has that gotten me? What innovative ideas have you brought to push the company forward? I'm offering you a chance to get yourself a better life and also get me some partnership, what's the question all about?” He continued, “Just so you know, he is a little…lame, I'm telling you ahead so you won't be taken unaware. Not like anyone was going to take marry you with that face of yours,” Kira gave up, all the decisions her father had ever made, all her life was for his benefit, he never stopped to think how it would affect Kira, he never stopped to think if she was happy about his decisions or not he never cared as well. Fury surged in Kira's veins as she watched her heartless father leave. “Whatever it is you have hopes of getting out of this deal, forget it, because I'm not marrying that guy. You are not going to dictate my life and sell me away for your profit,” Kira stood up to her father with defiance in her eyes. Her father leveled her with a menacious stare, “You think you're special or something? I see the little freedom you have is getting into you, getting inside your room,” Kira flinched at the sudden change in his voice. Her mind wanted to stand and challenge him but her legs moved before he got close to her. He shut the door and locked it, taking Kira's key with him. “Father, you can't lock me inside here?” Kira banged at the door when she realized she was getting locked. Her father paid deaf ears and didn't even budge, he walked out casually like he didn't almost slam the door against his daughter. “Father, please, you won't treat my sister like this.” Kira was referring to her step-sister, Jesse, Who was Daddy's favorite. Kira kept hitting the door with all her strength, when she realized that her father wasn't going to open the door she stopped, fell on her knees, and started crying. Her mind drifted to Daniel and she placed a call across to him, she watched the phone ring till it stopped and Daniel didn't pick up. She tried several times and the same thing occurred. No answer. It was very unlikely for Daniel not to pick up her call, he didn't even let it get to the second ring before picking it up and Kira had called him straight sixteen times, and not once did he take the call. Kira started panicking, Could it be that her father had gotten to him? Seeing that her father would go to any extent to make sure nothing interrupts his plan. Kira started replaying her conversations with her father, to see if there was any where He mentioned to her fiancé that she didn't register. She didn't recall her father saying anything that had to do with the man in her life, she made sure not to mention him for his safety, but it seemed her father had already found out. Kira looked out her window, not caring about the time, there was only one thought she had in mind. To make sure Daniel was safe.
