As Amara, Grace, and Kiara walked into the Brightside Brunch restaurant, they were greeted by a friendly waiter who approached them with a smile. "Hello and welcome to the Brightside Brunch, how can I help you?" he asked politely. Without hesitation, Amara spoke up, "Booking for three under Amara, please." The waiter quickly checked his screen and replied, "Right this way." They followed him to a beautiful outdoor setting that was surrounded by trellis covered in lush green plant life. The ambiance was perfect, with fairy lights hung across the whole area, casting a warm glow over the entire space. Wooden picnic tables were used for dining on, giving the area a rustic charm.
As they took in the beautiful surroundings, Kiara couldn't help but give Amara a smile of approval. "You never fail to amaze me on how well you know me," she said, feeling grateful for her thoughtful choice of restaurant. But Kiara noticed a hint of hesitation in Amara's response, and she replied with a slightly forced smile, "I'm sure this won't be the last time either." Kiara could sense that something was bothering her, but before she could inquire further, Grace interrupted them with her cheerful voice. "Come on girls, I came here to celebrate with my two favorite daughters, let's order some food!"
Kiara couldn't help but chuckle at her comment before replying, "We are your only daughters." Grace smiled broadly, her eyes twinkling with joy. "Hence why you will always be my favorite two!" she said, before they all settled down to enjoy the delicious food and each other's company.
During lunch, Kiara engaged in small talk with Grace, wondering about her stay with us. She seemed a bit hesitant before answering, "well, it really depends on how well lunch goes." Amara, who was sitting beside her, exchanged a worried glance with Grace. Kiara couldn't shake off the feeling of unease creeping up on her, especially when they both looked at her with serious expressions. She couldn't help but ask them what was going on.
As Grace took a deep breath, Kiara could sense that something big was about to be revealed. "Kiara, my darling. Now that you are turning 21, it means that everything is going to change for you," she said in a serious tone. Kiara was taken aback and didn't understand what she meant by that. She tried to brush it off by jokingly saying that she was already aware of that.
Grace and Amara looked at each other, puzzled by her response. Kiara then explained that her program, which she planned to start up, would bring significant changes to many people's lives. Kiara then felt foolish for jumping to the wrong conclusion earlier, because seeing their expressions made her realize that there might be something else that they were keeping from her...
Kiara was sitting at the dining table, patiently waiting for Grace and Amara to begin their conversation. Grace spoke up first, and her words immediately made Kiara feel uneasy. She said, "Kiara, my dear, please know that I love you very much, and nothing can ever change that." At this point, Kiara's heart started racing, wondering what could be so important that Grace had to reassure me of her love.
Grace continued, "As you know, I took you in from a very young age, and I've enjoyed watching you grow into the beautiful young woman you are today. But now that you're turning 21 years old, it's time for you to know the truth about your real identity." Kiara's expression immediately changed to one of surprise and confusion. She had no idea what Grace was talking about, and her uneasiness only grew stronger.
"What do you mean?" Kiara asked, her voice shaking slightly. "I don't understand." Kiara sat there, my eyes glued to Grace's face, waiting for an explanation that would help her make sense of the situation.
Grace let out a deep sigh and turned to face Kiara. "You know, this world that you live in is a lot more diverse than you think it is," she said with a hint of frustration in her voice. Kiara looked at her with a confused expression, wondering what could have prompted such a statement. Of course, she was aware of the diversity that existed in the world, but she couldn't help but feel that her version of it was different from Grace's.
As the two of them sat there in silence, something strange happened. Grace's eyes suddenly flashed a deep golden color, causing Kiara to gasp in shock. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. "What...what was that?!" Kiara exclaimed, her voice trembling with fear and confusion. Amara, who was sitting next to Grace, gave her an apologetic smile and then her own eyes began to glow the same golden color.
Kiara took a deep breath and tried to compose herself as best she could. She reached for her cocktail and downed it in one gulp before signaling for the waiter to come over and bring her two more. All the while, She couldn't help but wonder what was happening and how it was possible.
Amara's eyes were filled with a mix of emotions as she looked at Kiara with guilt and sadness. "Kiara, you know that you are my ride or die, and I would do anything to support and protect you. However, I need you to keep an open mind about what I am going to tell you," she said in a soft voice. Kiara gave her a nod, feeling a knot form in her stomach. "I'll try my best, but no promises," she replied with a weak smile.
Grace and Amara exchanged glances, and then Amara spoke again. "Well, there is no easy way to say this, so I think the best way to do this is to go for a walk." Grace signaled the waiter to bring the bill while Kiara sat there, feeling slightly frustrated that a walk was more important than telling her the truth about their golden eyes.
"I hope this isn't your way of avoiding telling me the truth because I want to know," Kiara said sternly to both of them, trying to mask her nervousness. Kiara's heart was racing as she looked at Grace and Amara, who were exchanging a smile. She had a feeling that the conversation was going to take a turn, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for it.
"Believe me, Kiara, golden eyes are just the tip of the iceberg," Grace said with a chuckle. Kiara raised her eyebrows, trying to comprehend what Grace just said. She was confused and wanted to ask more questions but didn't want to come across as naive. Amara, sensing my uneasiness, spoke up.
"Listen, Kiara. There are some things you just can't explain, and this is one of them. But trust us, you'll understand everything soon," Amara said with a reassuring smile. Kiara nodded, feeling somewhat relieved but still unsure of what to expect.
"With that being said, you can at least allow me to enjoy these cocktails before leaving," she said with a nervous chuckle. Kiara took a quick swig of the drink, trying to calm her nerves. The warm sensation spread through her body, giving her a sense of confidence.
As they walked out of the restaurant, Kiara couldn't help but wonder what she had gotten myself into. She knew that Grace and Amara were up to something, and she was determined to find out what it was. However, she couldn't shake off the feeling that it might not be something she was ready for. "God, what am I getting myself into," she thought to herself.
