Chapter 24
NOAH AND BOBBY spent an hour at the funeral home during the visiting hours. Both Tom and Chad were on hand to lend their support, but they slipped out of the room quietly when they heard people arriving, so they didn’t really get a good look at Noah and Bobby’s paternal grandparents or the rest of the family, nor did they get an introduction. Noah’s mother had elected to remain in Gainesville. On the way back to the house, the brothers were quiet and seemed to be lost in thought.
“I gather that everyone was on their best behavior,” Tom said.
“That they were,” Noah said.
“Yeah,” Bobby said. “Noah and I were determined to keep our mouths shut no matter what, so we got through the evening without any problems.”
“Let’s hope the funeral goes as smoothly,” Tom said.
