Chapter 17
TOM TOOK A CAREFUL look at his face in the bathroom mirror Monday morning and decided that it could have been a lot worse. A little pancake makeup would have done wonders to conceal the bruise, but he dismissed that thought as soon as it materialized. After Noah left for school, Tom drove to the church and practiced until just before noon. Then he went up to his office to eat the sandwiches he’d brought with him. While he munched on the sandwiches, he called the attorney who’d drawn up their legal documents and asked him about obtaining a restraining order. The attorney confirmed what George had told them, and said that he would see what he could do to get a temporary order.
