Chapter 18
THEY ARRIVED HOME a few days before the fall term was scheduled to begin, and Noah spent some time rounding up supplies, acquiring books for his courses, and generally getting organized. He came home late one afternoon and found Tom waiting for him, as usual, in bed. Later, over an early dinner, Tom said, “I have some extremely good news.”
“What?” Noah said.
“We’re going to Washington. I’ve been invited to perform in Washington Cathedral in late April.”
“Wow. How did that happen?”
“Do you remember the old couple we met after the concert in Biltmore Village?” Tom said.
“The ones who knew Dr. Ambrose?”
“The same.”
“What about them?” Noah said.
“They just happen to be members of the congregation at Washington Cathedral,” Tom said. “Evidently they had a lot to say about me
