“Cayne,” Jilly called for him. He was in the room next door to visit their daughter and Jilly stubbornly still refused to see Grace. “Cayne!”
She waited for him for a couple of minutes to show up. While waiting, she cut herself some apples and pears into a plate. When she finished, the door opened and Cayne walked in.
“What’s wrong?” He asked in concern as he approached her bed. “Do you need anything?”
“Is she asleep?” Her eyes drifted to the side.
“Yes, she is asleep now,” Cayne replied. He still couldn’t understand the reason Jilly didn’t want to see their daughter. But he needed to be patient, that was the key here.
“Good,” Jilly replied. She offered him the plate full of fruits she just cut. She was not going to eat them, so she gave them to him.
