Back to the present time...
"I don't, baby," Cayne replied strongly. He didn't want to repeat the past, ever. He had tasted the wrath of Julliane Bakerhubb. Never, ever he wanted to face her again.
"Then stop playing around and do your job precisely." Jilly sternly said to put him in his place. She never once lowered her gun which was pointing at the back of his head.
"I just wanted to see you. I missed you," Cayne said what he intended to say. Jilly wanted to laugh so hard when she heard that.
"Do I want to see you? I've been gone for a reason. One and clearly to be away from you. I would never want to see myself as a third wheel anymore. I am so done with you, Isaiah. If I could, I will kill you so I don't have to see your face again." As bitter as she was towards him, she would never kill the man she once loved.
Aware of the gun on the back of his head, he needed to act fast to avoid unwanted fire. He moved his head to the side, so it was away from the gun, and as he did just that, the gun went off.
He flinched, but turned around and grabbed her hand which held the gun. He put her hand down and saw her eyes were glossy. When she fired the bullet, he knew she had let her guard down.
He brought her into his arms and hugged her close. He hugged her like he wanted their bodies to become one.
"I'm sorry... I know I've hurt you more than you can count. I didn't know why I couldn't seem to change. But living without you hurts more than I can say. It felt empty without you and I realized, how much it hurts just by seeing you with another man. I wouldn't know how you felt when...," Cayne couldn't bring himself to say her name in front of her.
"You slept with Katherine from time to time." Jilly finished off his sentence and he nodded in acceptance.
"So, has she consoled you and f**k you to forget about me?" It came out bitterly and harshly, but how else should she feel?
"What? I would never forget about you, Jilly. Besides, she's with your brother now, officially." It saddened him that she would think he didn't love her even just a bit. He loved her more than she knew and acknowledged.
He grabbed her face gently and caress her cheek softly while he looked at her just to see how much he had hurt her.
"I need you, Jilly. Please, come back and be here. I want to show you that I can change and be the man you deserve. I want nothing but for you to come home." Cayne said sincerely from the deepest part of his heart. His heart was aching for her, he wanted to fix their relationship and be together again.
"No," Jilly replied simply and Cayne almost lost hope. But, he believed that he could tame her again. For her to accept him again and be happy with no other interruption, just the two of them.
"Will you ever come back?" Cayne asked and it felt harder than it should be.
"Of course. I'm not gonna let that b***h party over me. I would have just kicked her out, didn't you know? But I didn't. Because I don't want to see you cocooning her like the first time I brought her in. Little did I know, your pity was how you started to fall in love with her. I would have cared, too bad, you were no one to me." Jilly remembered the first time she brought Katherine to the club. Neither Kook nor Cayne would want to bring her in under their roof, so Jilly had to be the one to provide her with everything she needed.
In return, Katherine devoted her life to working for Jilly. But Jilly didn't take anyone with her to work, she worked alone. So, Jilly trained her before she put her to work under Kook.
"Stop talking about her if it's only hurting you, Jilly. Katherine is in the past now, we can move on. And I promise I won't be the Cayne you hate." He looked at her pleadingly.
"You think I will believe you so easily?" In the last four years of their relationship, he kept on sleeping with her. Once he stopped, there was no guarantee that he wouldn't do it again with another woman.
"Then I will prove to you that I can be the Cayne you first met and not the bastard Cayne you were in a relationship with. I will wait, fight, and prove to you that I can be the Cayne you deserve and I, deserve you." Those were the words of a broken man who had hurt the woman he truly and honestly loved.
"Let me see it, do whatever you want. But until then, don't you try to find me? Don't try to mess things up again. Those I hate now, I will be despised and banished." Every word she said, she meant it. She never spoke out of bullshit, she did what she said and it was like a promise to herself.
He brought her to his arms again and kissed her on the lips. His left hand wrapped around her waist and his right hand on the back of her head. His eyes closed on their own, wanted to feel the moment for as long as he could. He wouldn't know when he got to see her again.
"I'm sorry, Julliane. For hurting you and still wanting you despite being the bastard that I am. Wait for me, baby. I will come and get you back." It was a goodbye. As a man, being broken and showing emotions was okay for him. That was what made him get accepted by her. So, he could be loved and understood.
"Whatever your reason is, Isaiah. I don't want to regret the years I've been with you. Because in that time we were together, I've loved you." She turned around, ready to leave. But, he was not. He kept on holding her hand until the very end as she walked away from him.
What made him look hopeless was that he saw Marco, the guy she was with waiting for her. Even though he was watching from afar, it made Cayne feel jealous. No matter what, Cayne and Marco were both a guy that had been by Jilly's side at the same time but on different continents.
But, who will be able to stay?
