782 Words
On the other end of the call, Rex Chapman was ranting, '' You've given so much for them--granting Nelson Group the patent, donating custom medication to your brother's hospital, and offering Milo's company a chance with their lead role. You've made so many sacrifices, but all those ungrateful people seems to care is only about Leah. It's driving me mad!'' Charmaine chuckled at this and teased, '' You're upset? How about a reward? You have my permission to reclaim the patent.'' " The Nelsons are still pushing for a lower price, and we haven't signed the patent agreement yet,'' Rex continued. '' They're also casting the female drama. Wait. take it back.'' When those words finally clicked, Rex howled, '' I'll stop everything now!'' Charmaine instructed, '' And everything else we've given to the Nelsons--take it all back.'' ''Great! That's perfect. Boss, are you coming back? I'll announce your identity to everyone tomorrow, so the Nelsons will regret this and cry their hearts out.'' No, I have things to do. What things? A mysterious glint appeared in Charmaine's eyes as she replied, '' For instance, ruining the pride of the Nelsons entirely.'' what? ''Enough talk for now. I'm going back to hotel to pack my things.'' "Why are you going to the hotel? Didn't I buy you a villa at Eastlake?'' Before he could finish his sentence, Charmaine already closed her phone. Rex was good; with him managing the company, she felt relieve. He was too talkative. The Maybach gradually made its way to Eastlake, Eragos's most affluent district. When the Nelson first took Charmaine home, Rex, handed her an address and a password. He had bought her a villa there, worried that she have nowhere to go if the Nelsons mistreated her. In her previous life, Charmaine had suffered neglect and scorn. She never once set foot here before she died. She hadn't expected Emil live here too. But as the car ventured deeper into the neighborhood, Charmaine felt increasingly uneasy. She checked the map--- it was beyond the Eastlake boundary , entering an unmarked area. At last, a massive set of black and gold iron gates appeared. Beyond it lay vast fields of green, luxurious landscaping, and several grand buildings scattered across the grounds. After stepping out of the car, Charmaine was led into white building filled with various instrument and medicines, a faint scent of alcohol lingering in the air.--it was hospital. Charmaine's lips twitched as she finally understood what's going on. In the past, there were rumors that all of Eragos's wealth belonged to Emil. With such financial prowess! Despite his currently illness, Emil maintained control over Eragos with ease. When a nurse approached with the intention of drawing her blood, Charmaine 's brow twitched. '' So, before meeting your employer, do I need to undergo an examination?'' The nurse didn't gave an explanation and only said, '' Ms. Nelson, please cooperate.'' Charmaine extend her arm obediently. After all, it was she who utilized him as a cure---what goes around, comes around. After drawing her blood, the nurse departed, leaving Charmaine to aimlessly roam the glass pharmacy, her gaze lingering on the shelves. She noticed that large portion of the drugs were sedation and pain relief. Pondering, she closed her eyes for a moment. Soon, the sound of mechanical wheels approached. Charmaine clasped her hand behind her and turn around slowly. It hadn't been long since she'd seen that face, shrouded in shadows. With his eyes closed, the moonlight delicately illuminated his chiseled features. Emil was now sitting gracefully in the wheelchair. He moved towards her with unmatched elegance, his gaze fixed on her as he approached. Those eyes were cold and deep as an icy lake and seemed to burn with a hidden fire capable of consuming her whole. He wants to kill me! The realization struck Charmaine. She spoke first, " I know it's a bit late to say this, but my original intention was to make a deal with Mr. Emil." Emil paused before her. He reached out to grasped her collarbone, effortlessly drawing her closer. "Ms. Nelson likes to act first and talk later? Do you think you have a second life to play with?" His fingers traced the side of her neck, amused by her words. It felt like a predators paw pinning down its prey, leisurely searching for the perfect spot to strike -- one that would guarantee a lethal blow. Instinctively, Charmaine raised her hand, clutching his wrist, a smile still on his face. " Indeed, my actions earlier were rude, and I apologized to Mr. Emil. However, I believe this deal will be something Mr. Emil will find most satisfying."
