An Unexpected Call

1587 Words
Savannah and Tyler had spent all night and half of the morning talking and getting to know each other better. Tyler had told her all about his life in the pack and what she could expect when they finally returned, and he introduced her to everyone as their Luna. He told her that even though she was human the members of the pack would not treat her any differently. They would welcome her in with open arms. He told her that her being Luna would make his pack stronger and that she would be his equal in the pack. Her word was just as much law as his was and would be followed by every member of the pack. Should any of the pack refuse to follow the word of the Luna they would be dealt with to the fullest extent of the werewolf law. Savannah had learned so much in the last twenty-four hours that her head began to swim. She told Tyler that she was probably overwhelmed and needed to go lie down and rest. She excused herself and headed for her bedroom and was just getting comfortable on the bed when there was a ringing sound from the kitchen. Savannah brushed it off because it was probably for Tyler anyways. She rolled onto her left side facing away from the door and had just closed her eyes when there was a knock at her door. Sighing Savannah sat back up, “Come in,” she said as she pulled the blankets back so that it looked as though she was just getting the bed ready to lay down. Tyler entered her room and saw that she had been about to get into bed for a nap. Internally he sighed, he had not wanted to bother her but the voice on the other end had been more than adamant. Finally, he had given in and said that he would see if she was available. Once inside her room he cleared his throat, “I am sorry for disturbing you while you wanted to rest but, there is a phone call for you on the Sat phone and the caller says it is urgent that he speaks with you. He said his name is Joe and that he is one of your brothers. I told him that you had gone to take a nap and he insisted that I take you the phone. I told him I would see if you were available to speak to him.” Savannah could not be mad that Tyler had tried to give her some time to rest but she could be mad that her brother had so belligerently made Tyler rouse her from bed. She sighed and nodded her head before following Tyler to the kitchen. He handed her the phone, and she took it with an apologetic look. “Hello Joe, what is it that is so urgent that you had to make Tyler get me up from my nap?” Savannah said into the receiver not bothering to cover her exasperation. “I am so sorry Savannah, but I had to let you know that Ben, Mike, and myself have just arrived in Polson. We only just got here ahead of Aunt Sophie and Uncle Fredrick. They tracked your credit card that night you used it to get some cash. She is insistent that you come back with her and she said she would drag you back if she had to. So, we decided to try and head them off and get to you first so that we can stand on your side and support you. Anyway, their flight will be landing in two hours. We need to come up with a game plan. Is there anywhere we can meet, or can we come to you?” Joe sounded more than worried on the phone and Savannah knew that she needed to tell Tyler what was going on. “Let me call you back in a moment. I need to tell Tyler what is going on and have him come get you guys. Where are y’all at right now?” “We are at the Burger King in town getting something to eat. We can stay here that way we can follow Tyler back to where y’all are.” Savannah knew that her brothers are doing everything that can to help her so she promised that Tyler would be there in about twenty minutes to get them. She was staying behind so she could shower and fix coffee. After filling Tyler in on what the call was about, he left out to retrieve her brothers and bring them back here. He would be as quick as he could since the roads were still covered with the snow that had fallen the night before. The plows probably had not even gotten this far out yet, so he really needed to be careful so that he did not end up in a ditch. It would be totally different if her brothers knew he was a werewolf because then he could just run to town in wolf form and they could follow him back that way but since they did not he had to drive. The drive that normally only takes twenty minutes took him almost forty-five minutes instead. He arrived at the Burger King and found her brothers sitting exactly where they said they would be. He walked over to them and introduced himself. “Hello, my name is Tyler Grier, your sister Savannah sent me for y’all.” The tallest of the three men stood and he was just a few inches shorter than Tyler. He held out his hand and Tyler took it. “The name’s Joe, I am Savannah's oldest brother, and this here is Ben and Mike.” The men stood up and they all looked as if they had been built like stair steps. Each one slightly shorter than the first. After introductions were made, they quickly loaded up in their vehicles and began the journey back to the cabin where Savannah awaited them. Tyler was sure not to go too fast since the brothers had never traveled the roads here before and he did not want to lose them or cause them to crash. Savannah would never forgive him if they got hurt while in his care. The drive back was not as bad as the drive to town because Tyler’s tires had packed the snow tight enough that he didn’t skid like he had on his way into town. Though it did take them thirty minutes to get back and Savannah was waiting on the porch, hands on her hips tapping her left foot. God this woman reminded Tyler of his mother so much just in her stance alone, he could not wait for them to meet each other. Once the vehicles were parked and the guys exited Savannah sighed a breath of relief. It had been more than an hour and a half since Tyler had left to get her brothers and she had become anxious as the time passed by. However, now that they were all back here safe, she could let go of the anxiety she had left take hold of her while she had waited. She also knew that her aunt and uncle would be landing soon and that the time they had to prepare was short. Though she was thankful that they did not know her exact whereabouts and that gave them a little more time to prepare. She had already phoned the sheriff to inform him that he would be needed at the cabin within the next three hours. She filled him in on what was happening, and he promised her he would be there to enforce the temporary protection order he had helped her file. It was time to get together a game plan, and now that her brothers were here, she was ready to take on her aunt and uncle. Savannah smiled as her brothers climbed the front steps and she braced herself for the bear hugs that were to come from each of them. Just as she knew they would Joe, Ben, and Mike took turns wrapping her in their arms and squeezing her tightly. By the time they had all given her hug Savannah was gasping for breath and rubbing her rib cage. Tyler saw this and immediately appeared at her side. “Are you alright Savannah?” he asked worriedly. “I am fine,” she giggled. “They have always hugged me that tight and I honestly should be used to it by now but sometimes it still hurts a little.” Tyler relaxed a little after she had assured him that she was alright, but he still took her hand as they led Savannah’s brothers inside to the kitchen. The smell of fresh coffee was the first thing to hit everyone’s noses then the smell of cinnamon rolls cooling on the counter caught the attention of everyone. Her brothers began salivating almost immediately, they knew Savannah had made these fresh for them. She knew that cinnamon rolls were their favorite and she knew that this was just what they needed after her being away for so long. She smiled upon seeing their reaction to her surprise treat, as she handed out plates and cups of coffee she was filled with so much love and she knew that the four men in this kitchen would protect her with their lives.
