"Yo, Broki! Wake up!"
"Ngh..."
"Broki! Don't you dare close those eyes!"
"Why...? I'm trying to sleeuuuuuhh... Snore— Urk! Don't use your butt as an alarm clock! My stomach hurts!"
Ugh, it's still four o'clock in the morning and I don't know why is she waking me up.
I am Yukti, 20 years old, 5'7" in height. I am just like any other joe with an average built physique, harboring black almond eyes and greyish hair, and I have a slightly tanned skin tone. I'm a former Bureau member, bearing the alias "Ghost Tactician".
The one who tackled me with her butt, of all things, is Leen, my younger sister. She's 17 years old, possessing grayish, shoulder-length hair and round brownish eyes, has a petite height and slender figure. She's well-known as a rune card creator when it comes to females' personal hygiene. The two of us were living happily despite the absence of both our parents and our surnames—
"Yahoo. Yukti, you should wake up or else you two would be late."
Scratch that. There's now a third member of our family and her name's Agony. I rescued her together with my sister during that k********g incident and for some reason, she insisted to become one of my rune cards. She did explain that she's only a few days old, but no one would believe it with that body figure of hers. She's someone bearing a height of 5'4", got a silky smooth black hair with the length that could barely reach her shoulders, and has this mature-ish aura that would stand out if she's in the public. One would say that she's at her twenties. She even told me that her cup size is D (why tell me that information by the way?).
"Hmm? What's with that stare, Yukti? You're interested in me? It's fine, come to mommy— Ghack!"
I immediately smacked her forehead with my hand chop.
"I'm up. And what's with that approach? You sounded like some honeytrap trying to catch a prey in a night club. You should discard some disturbing memories you have in your mind."
"Now that's a no. I'm not even finished sorting it all. Maybe after that, I'll discard some...probably."
Apparently, she absorbed the memories of all the dead ones in that place.
It's been a week since we came to that abandoned facility, rescued my sister and that walking memory storage, and fought with those who were undoubtedly don't love a peaceful place to exist in the map.
Within the week, Michaela Lore -- alias Rose Crimson, the chairperson of the Crimson Academy -- made the necessary preparations and made one of her spare properties be used to accommodate those glass canisters (dang, this lady is rich). This time, she made them placed in a horizontal position and put an additional feature on the canister -- it's a metallic cover that covers the glass' contents. I'm glad she added that feature. As for how she was able to do such feats—
"I'm not proud to say this, but I found one of my friend's relative among the dead. I contacted him and his family to let him know about what had happened and had asked him to do something for me. He did it, along with his family who knows metalworks. I decided to make one of my private lots a graveyard and I allowed them to study the construction of the canisters, of course, without disturbing the ones who we laid down down to rest, this time, peacefully. You could say that I'm running funeral services now, but it's a good cover for us while we're investigating the matter at hand."
I approved her judgement. It is indeed a good cover as we try to unveil this hideous scheme we're in pursuit of. I've never met the said guy who helped us yet, but I humbly thank him and his family members for their efforts from the bottom of my heart.
"Oy Broki, you're spacing out again!"
"Is he always been like this?"
"Yes! It's troubling me every time I tried to explain something important!"
Ah. I made my sister mad.
"Yeah... I'm getting up now. Let's just hurry up. Thanks for cooking our meal this morning Agony."
"Sure thing!"
After a brief moment of preparation, we're now taking our breakfast. All of these were cooked by Agony.
Agony, huh?
She might be called as a Summoning rune card but Agony is way different. Summoning rune cards are meant to vanish after using. I remembered that one time that someone used a [Thunderbird] rune card. A Thunderbird did appear and used a single AOE attack. It then vanished, leaving the battlefield. As for Agony, she could shift from rune card to her human form and vice versa with her own will ever since I activated her during that one time. She did used a skill, [Flame of Agony], to burn the facility and yet she didn't disappeared and reverted back to a rune card. Agony is even displaying emotions, something that never happened before.
Oh well. I don't need to rack my head and dive deeper into this mystery about her.
We finished our meals and went off to Crimson Academy, the institute that we're in. As for Agony, she changed back into a rune card and inserted herself in my "card deck", the rune system, a body system where the rune essence and the rune cards were stored.
They did say that we might be late if I don't stood up from my bed but...
"It's still six o'clock. Which part of it is 'about to get late' stuff?"
"Broki, you should learn how to be an early bird and not a slacker."
That's a sound argument.
The academy is still far from full. Few students could be heard chattering with one another. Some were even playing chess, flexing their body mass, and more.
What a lively morning.
I'm just going to snooze after taking my seat though. My class will start two hours from now.
"I'm going this way Broki. See ya!"
"Okay. Take care of yourself, alright?"
I yawned as I waved at Leen.
"She's a cheerful girl isn't she?"
"She sure is, Agony. Anyway, why did you revert back to your normal form?"
"It's so tight in there. I just want to take a breather."
"Didn't you just became a rune card for a few moments?"
"Don't be stingy. Oh? That's Snow, right?"
Agony pointed at the direction where she saw Snow.
"Snow!"
"Hey, no running in the hallway!"
"It's fine. I'm not a student here."
"That's not what I meant..."
I just sighed while facepalming and stared at the two exchanging greetings with one another.
