"So here we need to infiltrate this place to— Wait, I got a mail."
"From whom?"
"My sister. Let's see... she said that some Bureau members came to inspect the Crimson Academy?"
"Huh? For what reason?"
Michaela and I were discussing our plans when my cell card vibrated out of the blue. It came from my sister Leen, saying that some of the shady individuals of the Bureau came just after some dudes wrecked a part of the place.
It's pretty obvious what they're trying to do.
"If I had to guess, they might be well aware that we're formulating a plan to stop their actions."
"No, it's not at that level yet. They might be suspicious of us, but they didn't notice that as of now. Let's continue this tomorrow. I'll converse with Agony and Liz about our plan. In the meantime, you head to your academy and shoo them away. They'll be surprised to see you."
•••
"Hello, sir. You're out late. Welcome to the Crimson Academy. How may we serve you?"
It's almost night when the vehicle with a Bureau logo painted on the door of the driver's seat arrived. It's just as that Leen had said.
Two lanky guys wearing tuxedos came out from the car. I don't care about their faces, and it's already dark anyway, so I didn't bother to look at it. I'll just remember their voices for now.
I gently lowered my head with Mister Andrew. I ought to bend my back as well but I felt my waist hurting -- my adrenaline may have been depleted -- after receiving that attack. Mister Andrew might've noticed my pained expression. He greeted the visitors in my stead, something that I appreciate.
"I'll cut off to the chase. This school doesn't have what it takes to continue its operations."
"May I beg your pardon, sir?"
One of them just roughly pushed Mister Andrew. He fell on the ground, didn't expected that harsh treatment.
"Mister Andrew, are you alright?"
"Don't worry, Student Secretary. I am fine."
Mister Andrew stood up and dusted himself to get rid of the dirt. The one who pushed him scoffed before he diverted his gaze back at the school.
Scumbags.
The other one noticed my glare and said menacingly.
"What's with that spiteful look? Are you questioning our authority, the higher-ups of the Bureau?"
"Surely you jest. It's almost night, and I need to squint my eyes to see you and your companion's majestic appearance."
"My, you know your place. No wonder you're a Student Secretary", he said with a joyous tone.
What I said is a lie though.
"You honor me, kind sir. If you please, me and Mister Andrew would be delighted to give you dignified gentlemen a tour of the school. It's starting to get dark, however, and so we could only offer you a tour inside the facilities."
"No need for that, young lady. We're here to investigate the east side of the main building. We received news that it's damaged, and that is certainly against our agreement between us and this place to operate. The fact that an intruder could easily enter the school premises is a red flag."
I've been told about Yukti and my sister that the Bureau wasn't rotten as a whole. There are some like Annie who abides by the laws, but there are scumbags that aren't.
Endure their pesky attitude, Snow.
"Hmm. This school is pretty well-made, sad to know that this place won't last long."
Okay, that almost crossed the line.
Temper, Snow. Temper.
We finally reached the part of the building that was destroyed by those two thugs.
Wait, where is Leen?
"W-what is this!?"
"I-I don't know either!"
They're bewildered to see that there's nothing noteworthy to their eyes in here. It's the opposite for us though.
How did Leen do this?
The building had some hole before, you know?
She really is a genius, just like her brother.
"Is something wrong, kind sirs?"
"N-no. Nothing. Let's carry on."
Now, now... You guys are just making it obvious.
One of them even bit the tip of his thumb, a sign of uneasiness.
"Hey, you b*a— Ahem! Miss Student Secretary, may I ask you something?"
"I would be honored to answer your question, sir."
"You're not using any kind of illusory rune card right now, right?"
"I don't, sir. You can check the walls to see if it's an illusion or not."
Why are they so tensed?
"Mind if I join into the conversation?"
"Chairperson!? Why are you-?"
Sister finally came! Yukti isn't with her, maybe due to their planning phase. Did Mister Andrew send the mail to the correct address this time?
"Why am I here? I'm the chairperson. It's obvious that I should be here if there are guests. Or did you guys don't want me to come?"
"Ah, no! I-It's not! We were just... surprised! Yes, we're surprised and happy at the same time."
"Yes! Exactly what he just said!"
"Ah! I just remembered that we had another appointment."
"Yes, we're often clumsy and ought to forget something or two. We'll be off!"
And...they're gone.
It's kind of funny actually. Their professional aura vanished after my sister came to intervene.
Talk about a bunch of clowns.
"Snow, is everything alright?"
"Yes, sister. You have to thank Leen for that."
"Oh my, you don't need to. I'm just doing what I can", said Snow as she cast [Light Flash] to illuminate the area we are in. "But to think that the Bureau is acting THIS weirdly and just letting them do as they please would spell trouble. Allow me to assist."
"Thanks for sparing us the trouble. By the way, the place had been under the effect of a rune card. Is this your doing Leen?"
"Oh, you noticed? You have some keen senses chairperson. Yes, I did put a rune card to do the repairs in time."
"Well, this isn't a proper place for talks. Let's all head to my office and enjoy some beverages."
The three of us followed the chairperson as we chatted about, voices echoing with each passing moment.
