Abel had no idea what this was, but it held a strange attraction for him. He held the card in his hand and observed it carefully, sensing a certain power within it.
Intrigued, Abel attempted to channel his mental energy into the card. Closing his eyes, he focused on probing the card with his mind.
As his mental energy entered the card, he felt a rugged energy, similar yet entirely different from his own. Before he could withdraw his energy, the rugged force surged towards it, connecting with his mental strength.
Suddenly, Abel found himself transformed into a young werewolf, unable to control the body. It was as if he was watching a movie, but far more real than any movie could be.
The young werewolf approached a sitting wolf, placing its hand on the wolf's head and chanting in a strange language. To his surprise, Abel understood the language and felt as if he had mastered it.
The language praised the beast god and contained unfamiliar tones, almost like incantations. As the werewolf chanted, the sitting wolf seemed to become connected with the werewolf's thoughts, allowing the werewolf to command it.
Next, the werewolf mounted the wolf and rode off, using its energy to massage the entire body of the wolf.
As the scenes ended, the space before him shattered, and Abel felt himself back in his own body, his mental energy returned from the card.
The star at the bottom of the card slowly dimmed and eventually vanished, followed by the card shattering. Fearing an explosion like that of his greatsword, Abel tossed the card into the air, where it dissipated harmlessly.
However, a new memory had formed in Abel's mind - knowledge of the orc language and the mount enhancement technique.
The orc language was a universal language among orcs, not originally part of the skill card. By directly connecting his mental energy to the card and absorbing the energy within, Abel had essentially come into contact with the orc language on a spiritual level and assimilated it as his own.
The mount enhancement technique was one of the skills recorded on the orc skill card. Orcs possessed unparalleled talent in studying mounts, and this technique, despite its commonplace name, was one of the most fundamental and powerful skills in the Orc Empire. It allowed the user to form a soul-level connection with their mount and enhance the mount's abilities through their energy.
Abel now understood the nature of the card - an orc skill card, typically activated with blood to learn its contents. His direct use of mental energy to connect with the card, though, was unprecedented. Had the creators been of higher rank, it would have led to unforeseeable and dreadful consequences.
Having mastered the orc language, Abel eagerly picked up the piece of parchment again, discovering it to detail the time and location of the orc team's rendezvous with all other teams. Excited by this revelation, Abel realized that with the information, they could annihilate the orcs who had entered the human world by organizing an army.
Such a parchment should not have been in the possession of an ordinary orc. Simon, about to leave the team to hide and await the birth of a new wolf, had transcribed the map before departing.
Realizing it was already late, with his steed and a wolf awaiting him at the werewolf camp, Abel retraced his steps to find his way back.
Nearby, the beasts had been hunted by the werewolves, leaving the two steeds tied up for a long time without incidents, leisurely grazing on the grass.
Observing the wolf camp in the distance, the sitting wolf seemed to sense danger due to the prolonged absence of its master, growing uneasy as it attempted to rise.
Watching the sitting wolf, Abel lamented silently. Once a sitting wolf recognized a master, it could not be re-tamed. With its master deceased, the wolf had lost its value.
Approaching the sitting wolf cautiously, Abel retrieved the Ice Magic Sword from his back, slowly closing the distance. Upon seeing Abel, the wolf, realizing its master had not returned, and an enemy had arrived, displayed a gaze filled with sorrow.
Emitting a mournful whimper, its eyes conveyed a plea. The sky had darkened by then, and as the last light of the setting sun cast its rays, Abel noticed a small figure struggling to emerge from beneath the wolf.
The wolf was giving birth. Abel halted his steps, astonished that the wolf was birthing here. He had heard of these creatures - the fastest and most loyal mounts. Strictly controlled by the Orc Empire, pregnant sitting wolves were never seen on the battlefield, let alone in the human world, yet here was a sitting wolf birthing in the human world.
Abel thought of the Mount Enhancement Technique he had just learned. Owning a perfect mount was the highest ideal for a knight. His heart swelled with passion at the sight of the strictly controlled mount's offspring before him.
Legend had it that only the first creature a sitting wolf saw upon birth could become its master. This rarity meant that humans in this world rarely owned such mounts. For the people of this world, a good mount was a concept akin to a supercar on Earth. Considering the fervor with which people on Earth pursued supercars, one could understand the passion for exceptional mounts in this world.
Seeing that Abel did not advance further, the sitting wolf focused on the newborn, displaying obvious distress but refraining from vocalizing any sound, as if afraid of disturbing the struggling newborn.
Under Abel's gaze, a new life emerged from the sitting wolf's body, the birthing process having drained the little wolf's strength. It lay with closed eyes, seemingly recovering.
The sitting wolf then suddenly rose and charged towards a large tree several meters away, a tree that had grown for many years and had a diameter of fifty centimeters. Abel thought the wolf was attacking him and readied himself, but to his shock, the wolf directed its attack at the tree instead.
With a thud, the sitting wolf's head collided with the tree, followed immediately by the sound of its skull cracking open, and the wolf collapsed, blood streaming from its head.
Abel had never witnessed such fierce loyalty and devotion from a creature. It displayed maternal instincts, yet its emotions for its original master surpassed everything, leading it to abandon the newborn and end its own life in such a gruesome manner.
Abel respectfully dug a hole with the Ice Magic Sword and buried the sitting wolf. He didn't want other beasts to desecrate the creature's remains.
By now, the little sitting wolf had begun to recover, emitting weak, milk-filled cries, as if calling for its mother.
Abel crouched down and lifted the small sitting wolf from the ground. Its entire body was covered in damp, black fur, soft and lightweight. Abel cradled it carefully, handling it with utmost care, not wanting to harm the small creature. As he looked at this tiny life, Abel felt a sense of paternal responsibility.
