(Mason’s POV)
We were still out in the yard when Nick came looking for us. “You boys alright?” He asked as he eyed us with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. He seems to trust us more than Jessie does, but he's still really cautious. I know it’s more because he’s trying to keep Jessie safe, and I appreciate that. I guess it’s just gonna take a while for him to trust us fully.
I was nodding in response to his question when it hit me, “Where’s Jessie?” She hadn’t come out with him and we left Nate inside.
I glanced at Kraig and found him leaning around Nick to look inside. He nodded at me and I relaxed a tiny bit, knowing Nate was still in the kitchen where we left him.
“I’m guessing you boys aren’t very happy with your old friend?” Nick said quietly and I snorted a little as Kraig
