(Jessie’s POV)
“Thanks daddy.” I said as I hugged him, then watched him leave the room before turning to Mason and saying, “I’m sorry you walked in on that. I wasn’t exactly complaining about you.” I said with a heavy sigh. Mason nodded, but only once and it was more of a jerk of the head, then a nod.
I could sense he was upset and I wanted to soothe that somehow. I just didn’t know how. I decided it was best just to be honest with him, so I said, “I guess we should talk.” He nodded again, though this time it was a sad, rushed nod, as though he were dreading what I had to say.
“Mason, relax. I’m not going off the deep end or pushing you away or anything like that. I promise.” I said gently, hoping he would at least relax a little bit. Thankfully, he did.
I went back inside and closed
