Trip

“We will be going to Georgia tomorrow” Kathie informed shoving the chicken wing into her mouth. She was speaking to Jas on the phone. “That sounds interesting.” “Except that Adam Smith is an asshole” She said with an eye roll. “Yeah. A hot asshole.” “Whose side are you on?” Kathie queried offended. “Yours, obviously. I’m just stating the obvious” Jas replied with a laugh. “I hate being around him now. I can’t believe I used to have a crush on him” Kathie said. Disappointment dripped from her tone. “You are still preserving yourself for him though.” “I can’t believe I told him that” Kathie face palmed herself and shook her head disapprovingly. “You were drunk. Don’t beat yourself up for it.” “I tell myself that, every day. Have you heard from Jeremy?” She asked changing the topic. “He pumps my account with money daily but neither calls nor texts” Jas said. Her mood instantly went downhill and she sniffled. “I just wish he would call, you know? Tell me what the matter is.” “Jas, you slept with someone else two days after he travelled” Kathie commented. “Well, duh. I just couldn’t help it” She said with an eye roll. Kathie scoffed. “I have to pack, Jas. I will call you later” Kathlyn said and hung up the call. She threw the phone on the counter and finished the last piece of her wings. She did the dishes and walked to her room. Kathlyn hated packing. She had never gone on an official trip so this was new to her. She had no idea what to pack. She walked to her wardrobe and picked out a number of clothes which she dumped on the bed. She rummaged through the pile of clothes and heaved a sigh of frustration when she found nothing in it. Twenty minutes passed and she was still going through her wardrobe. “There are only slutty and random clothes left here. I wore all the good dresses this week” She complained. She threw the clothes to the ground and folded her arms across her chest while grumbling. She wished she could magically do something to change Adam’s mind about this trip. Why did they have to travel? He could do his meetings on zoom and some other video conferencing app. Why insist on traveling? She had a feeling that he was doing this on purpose to get on her nerves. She had gone through the files and drafted information about their travel but she found nothing which needed her presence in it. She pushed her hair backwards and fell on the bed. She shut her eyes close and the reality of the situation slowly dawned on her. She would be journeying to Georgia with Adam Smith. That was something she never dreamed about. As much as she hated the man, he had an effect on her and staying in the same car with him or travelling with him was bad for her. She wanted to stay as far away from possible but that did not seem like it would happen due to the fact that they worked together. Her mind went back to the night at the club and she recalled the kiss they almost shared. It had been lingering in her memories since that night and she tried to push it to the back of her mind. She gave up when it kept resurfacing. It was the only good memory she had of him. The only memory in which he was not an asshole. She let her mind conjure images of him kissing her and basked in the feel of it till she fell asleep that night. Her alarm woke her at 5am the next morning. She grudgingly walked to the bathroom and turned on the shower. Warm water kissed her skin causing her to smile. Martins definitely knew how to be nice when money was involved. She turned off the faucet, dried herself up and walked back to her room. She looked around the room and marveled at the mess she created the previous night. She finally selected three official dresses; one red which stopped right above her knee. It was a V-neck long sleeved gown which had stones on the bodice. A pink gown - this one had tiny sleeves. Unlike the other one, it framed her body perfectly, showing all her curves. She decided to wear that one today. For some reason, she had the desire to tease Adam. The last gown was shorter than the other two. It was black in color and stopped mid-thigh. The neck line was low enough to reveal her boobs and she saved that one for the day of the meeting. Inappropriate …maybe, but sure as hell good enough to tease Adam with. After then, she proceeded to select matching shoes for the outfit. She packed two T-shirts to sleep in and a see through nightdress. She had no idea why she packed it but she did, for confidence maybe. She selected underwear, picking the sexiest ones while making sure they matched. She was done with everything at past seven am. Feeling famished, she went into the kitchen and made a bowl of cereal for herself. She munched on the food, shoving it into her mouth quickly. She rinsed the plates after she was done and walked up the stairs to get her bag. The honking of a car made her stop in her tracks. Perturbed, she walked to the door and opened it. A sleek, black Ford car was parked in front of her apartment. The driver wound down the glass as she made her way to the car. “Excuse me, who are you looking for?” “Are you Kathlyn Georgia?” Her eyebrows creased. Worry and paranoia filled her as she stared at the man. She turned to look back at her apartment and felt a bit relieved when she discovered she could make it back in a short run. “I am. Who are you?” “Mr. Adam asked me to pick you up and bring you to the airport.” Adam? How did Adam know her address and why did he send someone to pick her up? Why did he care anyways? “Miss?” She blinked and looked back at the driver who was staring at her. “I will be out in a minute.” She returned with her suitcase minutes later. The driver helped her put it in the trunk of the car and drove her to the airport. There was a private jet sitting on the hangar waiting for its passengers. She struggled to hide her awe but failed. The driver stopped close to it and opened the car door for her to alight. There were two men standing on either sides of the jet. She whispered words of greetings to them and made her way into the jet. “Welcome” A flight attendant greeted as she got to a door before leading her further into the craft. She smiled in response. She was led to the shaft where she saw Adam sitting. His laptop was placed on his leg while he worked. “Call my attention if you need anything” The attendant said and turned around to leave. Kathlyn started to feel nervous being alone with Adam in the same space. She made her way to one of the seats and settled on it. Adam lifted his head to look at her before turning back to his laptop. She crossed her legs and stared out of the window, deciding to not say any words to him. The engine of the craft began revving lifting the craft from the ground. Kathlyn stared out of the craft and shut her eyes when she saw that they were no longer on the ground. She was afraid of heights so whenever she had to use a plane, she shut her eyes till they left the ground. That way, she was able to properly manage her fear. She sucked in a deep breath, gripped the leather chair tightly and pushed her head backwards into the seat. She pressed her lips tightly together and tried to maintain her composure. Her head was a hot mess. She tensed a bit when she felt a hand wrap around her shoulders but she relaxed when the smell of the fruity cologne Adam wore wafted into her nostrils. She recognized it from the night at the club. He smelled like a mix of wine grapes and earth. It made him appealing. Her tensed muscles relaxed and she released the chair she was gripping. Her eyes fluttered open slowly and she froze when their eyes met. Adam’s piercing eyes followed her movements. Their lips were only an inch apart such that if either of them moved, they would kiss. Realizing that, she shrugged his hands roughly off her shoulders, cleared her throat and adjusted in her seat.
