Kathlyn gently took off the make-up from her face using a face wipe. She looked at her face in the mirror, feeling tiredness seep into her body. Memories from the night she had just spent with Tony flooded into her head making her weak. Her legs shook slightly and she made her way back to her bed.
She looked over at the mirror, and traced the mascara which had dropped from her eyes down her face leaving a trail. She was troubled and confused at this point.
“Have you never been in a relationship?” Tony asked incredulously. The conversation had somehow shifted from their occupations and families to their private lives. Kathlyn sipped her drink to hide the shy smile on her face. She looked over at the Chris and rolled her eyes when she caught him staring at her.
“Never.”
“Have you ever been touched by anybody?” He asked again. He was almost drunk now and she was slightly worried about him. His words came out in a slur and his eyes were darker than normal. She chew the inside of her cheek in silent contemplation. What was she to say to that? The truth? Well, she had nothing to lose.
“I have been.”
“Why did you not go into a relationship with this person then?” She squeezed the glass tightly and swallowed. She would have snapped at Tony some minutes back if he was not already drunk. He probably won’t remember anything from the night the next morning and she needed to talk to someone. Someone who would neither judge nor remember.
“It’s complicated” She said simply, afraid of divulging too much information. He hummed.
“Well, you are quite a beautiful lady. It’s his lost for not being with you” He said. She forced a smile and nodded her head. The VIP section was almost deserted now. She was left with Tony, Chris and Peter. The girls had long gone too.
“Can we go now? It’s getting too late and I have work tomorrow” She said in a pleading voice. He hummed again. He downed the content of his glass and rose up quickly. She stood up too and they began making their way out of the club. “I should drive” She said stretching out her hand requesting for the keys. Without protest, he handed the keys over to her and got into the passenger side.
She was a bit worried about how Tony would get home on his own after she dropped at her place but she swallowed the worries away. He would take care of himself. It certainly was not the first time anyways. He looked like a regular person at the club so she was not bothered about it.
She stopped the car in front of her apartment building and turned to look at Tony who was staring at her with a smile plastered on his face. She looked away shyly and turned off the ignition.
“Thank you for taking me out tonight. I had fun. It was much needed” She said. His smile broadened. She got out of the car and he did the same. She walked to the passenger’s side and handed the key over to him. She gave him and curt nod and made to walk away but he held her hand lightly, stopping her from moving.
She turned around to look at him wearing a confused expression on her face. He pulled her close to himself causing her to scrunch her nose in disgust. He reeked of alcohol and sweat.
“I had fun tonight too, Kathlyn. We could do this some other time?”
“We will” She assured. He nodded gleefully. “Will you be okay?” She asked worriedly.
“You have nothing to worry about.” She nodded again. Silence. He pushed her hair to the back to her ear and watched her. Kathlyn moved uncomfortably from one leg to the other, silently wishing he would change his mind and not do what she was suspecting him of wanting to do.
He tilted his head to the side, shut his eyes and advanced towards Kathlyn. Her heart began thrumming faster in her chest, making her rasp for breath. Unwilling, she pushed his hand and wriggled herself out of his hold.
“Good night, Tony” She wished and bolted into her house. She shut her door and struggled to catch her breath. She listened till she heard his car drive off before releasing the breath she was holding. She made her way up to her room and stared at herself in the mirror, confused at the emotions she was feeling.
Kathlyn lazily rose up from her bed and walked to the mirror. She stared at her tear stained face before going out of the gown she wore. She felt really sad for a reason she could not place. She got under the shower and calmly let the water pour on her in an attempt to wash all the sadness she felt.
She got back to her room and walked to her bed without bothering to wear any clothes. Her phone pinged with an incoming notification. She picked it from the table and stared at the screen. It was a message from Adam. She opened it and looked at it in surprise. Her heart warmed at his thoughtfulness and almost immediately, the guilt she felt returned.
She dropped the phone on the bed and sucked in a deep breath. She felt mentally exhausted. Did she go out with Tony for vengeance? It felt good telling Adam that she was going out with someone but the guilt she felt afterwards was something she did not plan for. She fell asleep with thoughts of Adam running through her head.
******
“Do you like that?”
“Yes, please. Don’t stop. f**k” She cussed. She bit on her lower lip hard enough to draw blood and dug her nails hard into Adam’s back. She let out loud shriek as she came and Adam came afterwards.
She woke up panting and soaked in sweat despite the fact that her ceiling fan was whirling at the highest. She pushed her hair backwards, wiped her forehead with the back of her palm before stepping down from the bed and making her way into the bathroom. She opted for a cool bath and was done in ten minutes. She got out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body.
Memories of the dream flashes through her head, making heat pool in between her legs. She rubbed her thighs together to provide some friction to her private part. She bit her bottom lip recalling every memory of the dream and replaying it in her head. The dream had been recurring since the night she and Adam made love. At first, it bothered her but as it continued, she decided to dwell on it and have fun with it.
The dream was a reminder of the only night of pleasure in her entire life. It was a reminder of a memory she would never have again. It was scary but pleasant. Scary because she wanted to have such memories over and over but she feared she would never be able to.
She used a blow dryer to dry her wet hair and packed it up in a ponytail. She did not have the physical and mental energy to dress in a seductive manner today. She glanced at her clock to see that it was almost seven am. She walked to her closet and brought out a casual yet classy gown which doubled for office and casual events. It was maroon colored.
She threw it on and paired it with a black shoe before setting out for the office. She decided to walk a distance before taking a bus which would take her to the office street to enable her think. Her head was clouded and she was well aware that going to work in such a state would make her unproductive at work. She rubbed her arms gently as she walked.
The street of France was misty and a bit cold that morning. She looked around the partly empty street and sucked in a breath. She recalled when she used to hurry down these streets to get to work for Maria. She detested the woman and among other things, she felt glad that she was sacked from the job.
She felt glad too that she got to meet Adam. Regardless of his attitude and the conflicting things he made her feel, he was someone she was glad she met. He had been her crush and he also got to fulfill her fantasy of being the man to take her first. She marveled in everything that had happened in the past three weeks.
She was troubled and conflicted but she was still sane. She just had to focus on work and let Adam do his thing. It would certainly be hard especially since she had to report everything to him but she would try. She was willing to.
