The elderly doctor continued. “It seems like you may have lost consciousness and banged your head as you went down. I do, however, have the unfortunate news to break to you that you have miscarried the unborn child you were carrying. You probably blacked out because your body was in the process of miscarrying.” He patted her hand. “It was pretty early in the pregnancy, and really that is not uncommon for first-time pregnancies. As for the future, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to carry it to full term. Now, if you do have any questions, let my nurse know and she can text me.
