tick tock it is almost five time to dress brush my teeth simple things are hard moving my body is like moving a mountain a bird croons in the front yard for the sun from the other side of the world I fish for underwear in a tomato box under the window grab my jeans off the chair a b*a a t-shirt on the floor Frida wraps around my ankles I cradle her walk to the bathroom drop her heavy body on the floor I pull the sink light chain it’s not grounded could electrocute one of us the dense black of the bathroom scatters I resent the light its intensity the final break with a sleepless night my face looks orange under the light this can’t possibly be my life I walktwo blocks to the diner Tara will join me at six thirty but until then I am on my own I hear something behind me but nothing is there
