Natalia No single human being on earth could ever be so single-handedly triggering as the woman standing right in front of me. And I hate the fact that her presence is enough to turn my mood so sour. Do I want to burrow into the root cause of that? No part of me is willing to accept that it stems from a place of jealousy, not even the slightest bit. My hands curl into fists so tight that my nails dig crescents into my palms. I’m expecting a confrontation. “Fiona.” I mutter as coolly as I can manage, hugging the kids tighter to myself. “Such a pleasant surprise I bump into you and the kids isn’t it?” she asks with a smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “I’m not so sure about that,” I say slowly, making sure to enunciate each word for emphasis. “Oh, always trying to be funny.”
