Chapter Fifty Three

889 Words

Natalia When I make it to the pack garden, I find Alden leaning against a tree, staring into nothing. I had guessed that he might have come to the same place i found him in the last time he disappeared from the hospital, I breathe a sigh of relief, as I walk up and stand beside him. “Thought I might find you here,” I say without looking at him, my eyes trained straight ahead. “I’m sorry, Natalia, but I don’t know what came over me.” His voice is small. I nod and glance up at him briefly, his face is deliberately empty. I let out a sigh. “No. I mean, I didn’t know what came over me, but suddenly I couldn’t seem to stand there…” Alden trails off, and exhales, swiping his hand across his forehead before tossing a small smile my way. “It’s no problem,” I say, “I was just worried is all.”
