Around six 'clock when they got themselves ready for the party. Nathan is wearing a black suit paired with a red tie. He looks so handsome, with his hair attractively fixed. While Kimberly wears the elegant violet long dress, Aunt Marie bought for her. It looked unfit on her since she quickly lost weight after being sick for two days. She puts makeup on, doing it as well as she can.
"Turn around..." Nathan commanded. Kimberly obeyed and walked into the room like it was another practice.
"So?" She said. He looked at his wristwatch when she reached back at him.
"It's still early." He whispered and took her arm.
"Let's go."
"Do I look good now?" She asked consciously.
"No."
"What?"
Nathan drives to her Aunt Marie's school. He hurriedly pulled her when they arrived.
"Nathan?" His Aunt was surprised. But he didn't need to speak for their purpose. She already knew by looking at Kimberly's dress.
"What happened? Why did you lose much weight?" Aunt Marie asked frantically. Kimberly bends her head.
"Please, Aunt Marie, we're runnin' out of time," Nathan said.
"Of course!" Aunt Marie replies, pushing Kimberly inside the dressing room to fix everything.
It took almost an hour before Aunt Marie went out, followed by Kimberly. She wears a seductive red backless gown, revealing the smoothness of her skin. Her hair was not flying everywhere, as it was tied up with a pony. Nathan slowly stood from the chair, frozen. His eyes fixed on hers, making her shy and bowing her face.
"Isn't it she's charming!" His Aunt is proud of her creation. She taps his back and wakes him.
"Go on. You'll be late."
"Thanks..." Kimberly approaches Nathan's Aunt.
"Don't mind it, Sweetie." She said, kissing her on both cheeks.
The party will start at 8:30 in the evening, Nathan knows they will be late, but he never minds it. He couldn't even think of anything, nothing at all; his head was fixed on Kimberly. He's quietly driving when suddenly words slip into his ears, repeating repeatedly.
"We've been together for three months now...." Kimberly recites the statement.
He holds her hand, which surprises her. She glances at his face, but he doesn't say a word.
"I'll do my best." She cried nervously, and he just nodded for an answer.
So then they arrived a few minutes late...
"Hey, guys!" Nathan greets his friends as they reach their table.
"Nathan! Good to see you again!" Archie approached, giving him a manful hug. "Oh! It's her?" He asked, seeing Kimberly at his side.
"Yah! Guys, I want you to meet my new girlfriend, Kimberly." He introduces.
"You always come out with the best!" Archie praised.
"Hello, Kimberly. I'm Johnny, but you can call me John." A man the same age as Nathan handing his hand to her. She accepts it and shakes hands with them.
"Hi!" She smiled. Nathan pulled a chair for her and sat beside her.
"Where's Henry?" He asked.
"He hasn't arrived."
"Why?"
"Don't know. He said he'll be late."
While everyone was at the table enjoying themselves, Kimberly felt a bit out of place. She's amazed by the way they talk to each other. They are all educated professionals discussing business, careers, and luxurious lives. Everything she can't justifies why she doesn't have it now. She tries to reach for the glass on the table, but she has no idea whether its a water or wine.
Unluckily, it slips before she can hold it. She got shocked and nervous as it spread on the table, taking everyone's attention. They stop and look at her, and she's frozen.
"What would I do? What would I do?" Her minds are insane, and she starts to get cold.
"Waiter!" When he heard Nathan speaks while pointing at the table. He glanced at him with fear. The waiter quickly runs to clean it.
"Sorry..." She whispered, bowing her head as always.
"It's okay ." He answered and pulled his chair closer to her. Then crossed his arm around her neck extending it to her chin and pushing it up slowly.
"Hey, Nathan, stop bullying your girlfriend!" John teased.
"I'm not." He said, kissing her lips and whispering in her ears.
"Don't put your head down." Then faced them with his killer smile.
"When did you meet Kimberly?" One of his friend's girlfriends asked curiously.
"We met in one of the bars in the city." He answered, frightening her.
It wasn't on the script!
She's nervous, trying to think what would be his next word.
"She's with friends enjoying their company. She caught my attention, so I decided to introduce myself and asked if I could join them since I was alone. Then Kimberly is so nice to accept me and let me accompany her all night." He continued.
"How can someone ever refuse a good-looking guy like him, right Kimberly?" The woman turns to her.
"Yes, he's nice." She said, looking at him.
"You should be very careful with this man!" Archie said menacingly.
"I trust and truly love him." She said with eyes still on him, then reached to his lips and kissed them.
"That's my girl." He grins and kisses her back.
"Aooww...." His friend's chorus teased them.
The party continued without Henry, and the DJ played something sweet. Some of his friends asked their partners to dance.
"Let's go." Nathan holds her hand to stand.
"Nathan, I don't know how to dance." She whispers.
"It's alright, trust me." He said, winking his one eye, teasing her with the line she had used earlier. It's not on the notes he gave her.
Nathan took center stage and started to dance. He puts one of her hands on his neck while he holds her waist. Their other held each other and started to dance. Nathan is a good dancer; even though Kimberly stepped on his foot many times, it wasn't obvious. He played it nicely. One move and she steps at him again. She stops and glances down at their feet. He took her other hand around his neck, joining the other one while he slid his hand on her back, and they got too close.
"Nathan..." She cried, feeling a bit awkward.
"Don't stop their watching..." He whispers while she looks at him. She holds on to his neck, cold, feeling uneasy, realizing they've been the center of attraction.
Everyone left the stage, and now their eyes were on them. Nathan felt how nervous she was. He moved her closer to his face. Her eyes are only on him, and it speaks to her like. "Just stare at me."
"They look good together," Archie said to John.
"Yeah, I've never seen him these serious with a girl, even with Anne." He agreed.
"Right, I wonder where Henry is. He must see this!" the other one said and took pictures.
"His best friend finally found his match. How lovely, isn't it?" Archie's fiancée agreed and held onto his arms.
As the music ends, Nathan kisses her lips passionately. Then she heard everyone's applause. He turned to them proudly while she stayed in his arms, smiling in discomfort. They returned to their table, and all his friends were still clapping their hands, teasing him, showing how happy they were for him.
"Why don't you call Henry? He's so late." Archie told Nathan as they were back at the table having another drink.
"Fine, I'll call him outside." He stood.
"I'll be back in a minute." He whispers to Kimberly, winking his eye, and kisses her again like earlier.
"How old are you, Kimberly?" The woman asks with a mean look.
"I'm twenty." She answers, trying to be natural as Nathan always reminds him.
"So Nathan is seven years older."
"Who cares about age." Archie's fiancée is on rescue. She seems to like Kimberly. She has known Nathan for years, even his ex-girlfriend Anne.
"I just found it unusual, and you're looking at him with such fear." The woman speaks again, trying to take the conversation in her favor.
"No, I am not. He is such a handsome, good-looking man, and I'll be so frightened to live another day without him. Especially when there's someone around who'll try to distract him with all her might!" She answered, eyeing her with such courage.
Everyone turns their eyes on her, this is the first time Kimberly has spoken a lot of words, and it's threatening.
John slaps the desk hard and claps in amazement.
"Now I know why Nathan falls for you. You're something!" He exclaims.
"Yah! Amazing." Archie agreed.
"Shut those damn words of you, Joanne! It's none sense!" The woman's boyfriend yelled.
"Yeah, right! You loser!" The woman yelled back and walked out.
"Fine! Get yourself out here!" He said, irritated.
"I'm sorry..." Kimberly quickly apologized to him.
"Oh, never mind her, it's nothing. She had fantasies of Nathan since we were in college." He smiles as if nothing happens.
"Hey, don't tell it to her!" It's Archie's fiancée again.
"It's alright, and it will be a warning to you, Kimberly. It would be best if you did not take off your eyes on him. He might be snatched by someone obsessed, like that one." Archie explains.
"She's your girlfriend." She turned on the guy.
"No, she's not. She just forced me to take her as my date."
Nathan went back...
"What did I miss?" He asks.
"Let's just give your girlfriend cheers," Archie said.
"For Kimberly," John said, still with his amazement, and raised his glass.
"Cheers!" They chorus again.
"What did just happen?" Nathan asks after drinking the wine while Kimberly's cell phone rings.
"Excuse me." She said and went to the washroom.
As Kimberly left the table, John, Archie, and the other guys started to talk about her with compliments. Nathan is so proud of her that he begins to speak in his overconfident words.
"Yes, of course! She's the best girlfriend I ever had."
