She was literally wet.
Whoever drank from the apple juice didn't cork it well and the content was drenching her. Lyra snapped out of her shock and took a step backwards, as Priscilla rushed out with a loud gasp as she met their situation.
"Sir Jason"...she stuttered.
Lyra looked up. Her eyes trailing his figure to meet with his alluring features. Did she call Damon the charming man of my dreams??
Trash that!
"He's a god!!", her insides screamed with desire and so did her mouth want to as well, but then their eyes locked.
"Priscilla, who's she?", Jason arched a brow at her. For some reason, Lyra knew she might be actually wet now. His voice alone was a huge turn on already!!
"She... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry", Priscilla just kept apologizing, visibly shaking with fear.
Lyra came to her senses, she bowed, "I'm... I'm sorry", her voice croaked out.
Aunty Diane walked in at that moment. "What's going on here? Is that my glass cup?" , she snapped.
Lyra's heart sank.
"Mom, who's she?", Jason maintained his question. His eyes boring holes into every part of Lyra's being. Lyra shifted her gaze to aunty Diane. She could see the shock on her face, and without thinking, she fell on her knees immediately. "Fuckkkkk!!!!!!"
Lyra really wanted to scream that aloud.
A piece of the shattered glass had just pierced into her right knee. She didn't watch before going down on my knees, but she'd promised not to cause problems, so she didn't stand. It hasn't even being 24hrs yet. She remained on her knees, biting back her pain.
"Lyra...." Aunt Diane gasped in shock, but Lyra interjected her..
"It was a mistake ma'am. I'm really sorry sir. I'm really sorry ma", Lyra voiced aloud with guilt and pain.
" Please stand", aunty Diane voiced with concern
"Why is no one answering me?!!", Jason half yelled.
"Son. She's family. I nearly ran her over with my car a week ago and she's been in the hospital with no where...ugh...long story... she lives with me now. I'll explain later", aunty Diane explained to her son whilst Lyra remained on her knees hoping they'd forgive her.
"And what are you standing there doing?!!!" Diane snapped at Priscilla.
"Well clear this mess already", Jason scoffed.
*am I forgiven?*
"Please stand Lyra. You were supposed to be in your room...", aunt Diane sighed..
"I wanted to help out, and I was the one who bumped into him not Priscilla, please don't fire her". Instead Diane chuckled, "it's fine, come let's have dinner".
Lyra chanced Jason a glance but he simply looked away and sat at the dinning. Her gown was longer so she carefully covered her little wound, using the gown to wipe the little traces of blood as well. She really didn't need aunt Diane worrying about her.
.
"You're hurt", Priscilla gasped as she walked into Lyra's room to see her nursing her wound.
"Atleast you weren't fired because of me", Lyra tried to make a joke out of it.
"I'm really sorry. I should have remembered earlier", she apologized which Lyra wasn't expecting her to. Most elderlies never admit to be in the wrong. Damon never admitted to being in the wrong. Her false parents didn't... not to mention her siblings... she was touched.
Lyra smiled, "it's fine. I wasn't expecting him to be coming in so quickly as well. And I should have been more careful".
Priscilla stared at her with somewhat pity. "Do you really not have a family?" She asked from what Lyra had told her earlier in the kitchen.
Lyra smiled and nodded. "I'm alone", she said and thankfully Priscilla didn't peer any further. She turned and left after a final apology. Lyra exhaled aloud and stripped herself for a night's shower.
.
.
Mother and son sat at the balcony in Diane's room that gave a lovely view of the night's sky as they discussed over wine.
"So you're telling me, that she's Aunt Emily's child?", Jason still couldn't believe it. Of course he knew Aunt Emily.
He'd usually go over and spend the weekend with her and her husband until he died. Didn't stop him from going over and spending time with her even when she was pregnant as well. When Lyra came out as a baby, he was four years old and enjoyed playing with Lyra. Jason would call her his little sister since he had none, till Aunt Emily died and Lyra was taken away. He never saw Lyra again.
"She grew pretty as I imagined", he chuckled but his mom gave him a knowing smile.
"Mom! Don't! I'm being plain. I remember her as a cute baby and she grew up pretty as well.. that's all I'm saying", he explained but Diane still wiggled her brows at him.
"Mom!", Jason laughed. "I have Bella remember?"
"I really don't like that girlfriend of yours", she scoffed.
"Because she wasn't among the numerous blind dates you lined up for me?", he chuckled.
"No. Because I don't like her", Diane rolled her eyes.
They both laughed. Bella wasn't fond of Diane as well. She'd always argue following Jason home for dinner. At first, it disturbed him but he's somewhat okay with it now..
"You're really lost with her", Diane scoffed seeing how Jason had zoned out. He laughed, "As a man in love should be".
She mimicked with a funny face before saying, "Do take care of Lyra as your younger sister. She's been through a lot".
"She is my younger sister. She's always been that and nothing's changing", he smiled, sincerely glad to reunite with her.
"Well you can't be so sure", his mom wiggled her brows again. "You both are full grown adults now. She's no longer the chubby cheeks you played with 26 years ago", she smirked.
"Don't be weird now mom"
"What?! I really wouldn't mind. When it happens just let me know", she gulped down her wine.
"We put a close on this topic", he chuckled, not wanting to hear more.
"Fine. How did it go with Mr. Rudolph?",
Jason heaved a sigh, "well, he didn't show up. He called to cancel but I guess that gives me more time to prepare well".
She nodded, "don't be so hard on yourself son. Your dad is so proud of you right now".
"Exactly why I want to do more", he stared at the sky as though he could see his old man. He really missed him. There was silence between them until Jason exhaled aloud. He rose from his chair and gave his mom's cheek a kiss. "Goodnight mom"..
"Sleep tight baby", she voiced as he walked out of her room.
Walking down the hallway to his room, Jason couldn't help but notice the door opposite his was slightly open. The cleaner doesn't come at night and Priscilla didnt have the keys to any of these rooms, it got him all curious. He peered closer, the lights weren't on, but just as he neared the door, Lyra in her nightie dragged it open.
I gulped...
"Jason?"
"It's not what you think.....", he'd totally forgotten she was around.
"Oh", Diane came to meet them with a chuckle... Right!! Jason should have known only her could do something like this. Was she really trying to hook them up or something? He rolled his eyes..
"Son, I hope you don't mind your sister sleeping here?", she gave off an innocent harmless smile but Jason knew there was nothing harmless or innocent about it. When none of them replied, she continued.
"Well, you know I have to head out early tomorrow, so I was thinking maybe you could take your sister shopping to get a few clothes, was going to that with her anyways but since you're here, you both could as well talk and feel less awkward around each other right?" Both Lyra and Jason stared at her like she'd grown horns..
"Goodnight my babies....", she chuckled and left before any of them could object.
Jason fixated his awkward stare on Lyra, his eyes unconsciously going down her body. She really wasn't chubby cheeks anymore. She's a woman now. A really pretty woman.
"G..Goodnight", he said to her and dashed into his room... Lyra simply stared at his door without words...
*****
By morning, Diane had already left as she said.
Priscilla prepared breakfast and Jason was already at the table when Lyra came down. All the hairs on her body stood as she saw him. He too had heard her footsteps coming down the stairs and could feel her eyes at the back of his head. She seemed to have halted on her tracks as no more sounds came forth but continued after a few seconds. He guessed she was gathering the courage or whatever.
"Goodmorning", she greeted and sat down.
"Hmm", Jason simply hummed in response while his eyes remained glued to his phone.
Giving off a slight chuckle to Bella's text, Jason finally dropped his phone and turned to Lyra, "how was your night?", he asked, but the look on her face told him she'd rather have him press his phone than give her attention.
Lyra simply nodded, "and ...and yours?", she croaked, almost regretting asking immediately.
Cute!!
Jason chuckled, "Well, a bit chilly, but I'm alive". Priscilla came out at that moment, "goodmorning", she greeted and Lyra responded with a smile.
"That didn't change", he voiced before he could stop himself.
"Huh?"
"Your smile...", he cleared his throat," I meant your smile... Still the same after so many years", he answered, noticing her nervousness which she was doing a poor job at hiding.
Jason wasn't comfortable with her presence either — not in a bad way, but he had to be the man right? Plus he was older...
He rushed through his food and stood, "we'd leave in twenty. I'd be waiting", he turned and headed up to his room..
.
.
Lyra exhaled loudly the moment he was out of sight. Priscilla chuckled behind her.
"Does he scare you?", she asked.
"Not really", Lyra shrugged, "I'm guessing it's new environment symptoms". She convinced herself it was that before concentrating on her food.
In twenty, she had showered and dressed up, Jason came out of his door and he couldn't deny the beauty before him. She had a simple gown on but with the way her hair cascaded down her back and the shiny pearl necklace accentuating her beauty, it was all so stunning.
"You look beautiful sister", he had to add that.
"Thanks", Lyra smiled sincerely. Her mind drifting back to Damon. She really never heard that from him. The look in Jason's eyes told her she was beautiful even if he didn't say it. She'd have been grateful if Damon had such look in his eyes.
Jason led her out and into his car, as he sat on the driver's seat and fastened his seatbelt.
"I'm not scary, am I?", he asked and Lyra chuckled.
"I'm sorry", she didn't know her nervousness was so evident.
"It's fine", he smiled back and sped off straight to a luxury boutique. One of the best in New Jersey.
"Welcome sir and ma'am", the look on the lady's face already told Lyra something was off.
"I usually come here with my girlfriend", Damon whispered to her and Lyra's mouth shaped into an "oh", but her countenance fell at the mention of his girlfriend...
"What's wrong with you?!" — Lyra screamed at herself.
They walked in fully and all the dresses were really beautiful to force tears out of Lyra's eyes, but her eyes met with someone. She popped out her head to be sure and truly it was Melanie. Lyra gasped and hid behind Jason.
"What's wrong?", Jason tried tracing her eyes and it landed on Melanie, "is that not Melanie? Do you know her?",he asked Lyra.
"I should be asking you. How do you know her name?" Lyra arched a brow from behind him.
"I happen to know her, and why are you hiding from her?'
"She's just someone I don't want to meet...yet", Lyra bit her lips and popped her head out to see Melanie leaving the boutique with a man.
"But who's that?", she voiced aloud unknowingly.
"You mean Marcus? That's her husband....."
