Chapter four

"She.....She is my friend," Fenrir fixed his gaze on me. "I've known her since I was a child. We've always thought of her as a frail werewolf in our pack. That's why, aside from me, she doesn't have many friends. There are reports that she even murdered her parents, and her uncle began caring for her. She, on the other hand, preferred to indulge in promiscuous behavior with her uncle's guests." I told him everything so he wouldn't alter his mind about making me his Luna. When it was late, I told him I needed to go home. He escorted me halfway to my house with his guards, and then I went home. I couldn't forget his thoughtfulness and devotion, and I couldn't stop smiling all the way home. Selene's Point of View Freya claimed that she needed to go do something as she rushed away from my side. I dashed inside my room, pushed the door shut, and sobbed as I rested my back against it. I covered my eyes with my hands and shook my head as if I were going nuts. I began to reflect on how unhappy my life had been after the death of my parents. I was used as a s*x slave and mated with the person I had a one-night affair with, who now rejects me due to my weak werewolf status. After what seemed like an eternity, I rose from the floor, removed my dress, and proceeded to the bathroom to take a bath. I observed my body shifting in strange ways while strolling to the bathroom. I was feeling nauseated and more tired than normal. I rejected it, thinking it was due to the previous stress I'd been experiencing or that my menstrual period was approaching. Then I remembered the night I had s*x with Fenrir. "Could it be that I am pregnant?" I questioned myself. "No, it can't be, not with that ruthless Alpha Fenrir." I'll have to either kill myself or flee the pack. "I refuse to let Fenrir raise my child." I don't want him to raise my child in the same brutal way he treats his pack members, especially me. He is far too harmful for both myself and my child." I told myself this. Because of how he has treated me, I said this. He had s*x with me and then rejected me because I was frail. I've heard that he is harsh in his judgment. But deep inside, I admire Fenrir for his gorgeous eyes and athletic body type. I wish I could be his constant companion. I decided to lie down on my bed after taking a bath. I closed my eyes and dozed out. I was startled to hear a familiar voice shouting my name. When I opened my eyes, there was nothing. Then I shut my eyes and felt someone or something shake me. I opened my eyes again, and there was nothing until I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I yelled as the pain intensified and I began to sweat. I yelled repeatedly, but no one came. The pain was so excruciating that I screamed till I was out of breath. Aidan and Nadia walked in as the door unexpectedly opened. "Will you shut up and behave yourself before I hit you?" Aidan screamed at me. I rapidly gather my thoughts. I mustered all of my strength to stand up, ignoring the severe ache in my gut. "I think something is wrong," Nadia expressed concern. Nadia scrutinized me without hesitation, her face furrowed in perplexity. "This isn't what I expected," she murmured quietly, her hands resting on my stomach. Aidan, her husband, stood by the door, his face expressionless. I could sense his controlled worry, but I knew he wasn't going to be sympathetic. I felt something moving inside me as the pain worsened. Fear of the unknown caused tears to flood down my cheeks. Nadia eventually spoke, her eyes widening with awareness. "Are you pregnant?" What I was hearing was unbelievable. Pregnant? It felt like a horrible joke, another cruel twist of fate designed to break me. How could I bring an innocent life into this harsh environment where I was treated as if I were a slave? "Not at all. It's only a fever. "I'll be fine," I grumbled. "It's better if you're not because we will kick you out of this house if you are." They left the room and told me to go do the housework. Despite my anguish, I struggled to gather enough strength to leave the room and begin my domestic responsibilities. I eventually felt relieved and decided to pay Freya a visit later at her home. I intended to tell her about the recent happenings in my life since I am hesitant to think I am pregnant. I took a deep breath and began going towards Freya's house as the moon hung low in the sky, giving an eerie glow over the woodland. As I got closer to her house, I noticed Freya sitting beneath a tree outside their house. When Freya noticed me approaching, she looked up and smiled. "Hey, Selene," she said. "What brings you here this late?" I paused for a moment before blurting out. "I think I'm pregnant". Freya's eyes widened in amazement. "How, where, and who?" she inquired. "I should have told you about everything that has been happening to me lately," I replied. "But it seems like you've been busy or trying to avoid me, like everyone else." "It's not like that, Selene," she clarified. "You're a childhood friend of mine." I can't stay away from you. I've just been extremely busy. Sorry. Please explain what happened. "I'm paying attention." "I had a one-night stand with Alpha Fenrir." "You did what?!" she exclaimed. "I didn't do it on purpose." It was Uncle Aidan's idea. He duped me into going to the Alpha's residence to assist him in retrieving something." I responded. Freya's pupils constricted with rage and dismay. "Did your own uncle really betray you in such a way?" He couldn't do it, could he? Fenrir, what about him? "How does he feel about it all?" "I haven't told him yet," I admitted, my voice slightly trembling. "I'm afraid of how he'll respond and treat me and the child. I don't want the child to go through what I've gone through. And you already know he turned me down because I'm a weak werewolf." Freya took my hands in her strong, comforting grip. "We need to figure out what's best for you and the baby, Selene." "Freya, can you please keep this a secret between us until I figure out what to do?" I inquired. Freya grinned, her unflinching support. "That's fine; I'll do it." "Don't worry, I'll keep this between us," she said politely. When I learned I could confide in Freya, I felt comforted. We talked about various things for the rest of the day, and then I questioned her about the mating festival night because she hadn't mentioned it to me. But I observed she didn't want to discuss it. Then I hugged her and told her, "Don't worry, you'll see your fated mate at the next mating festival." She laughed. While I was still attempting to cheer her up, I noticed four males approaching us. Close inspection revealed that they were Fenrir guards. I identified them based on their attire. When I went to the Alpha's residence, I noticed some of them dressed in this manner. As the men approached, my heart raced and a million ideas ran through my mind. What brought them here? Did they find out about my night with their Alpha? Panic crept in me, and I instinctively gravitated toward Freya, seeking warmth and safety. One of the guards, a tall, stern-looking man, took a step forward. "Who is Freya?" he inquired authoritatively. "Yes, I am," Freya said, nodding. Before proceeding, he cast a peek at Freya. "Alpha Fenrir has requested that you attend the packhouse. He would like to speak with you." Inside, I wondered what he had in mind for my pal. "Can I follow her?" My voice trembled as I inquired. The guard paused for a time before nodding. "Yes, you can." I felt a wave of relief go over me as I realized I'd be able to find out what he wanted. I glanced at Freya, my eyes silently imploring. Anxiety gnawed at my insides as we made our way towards the packhouse. My mind raced with fear as I walked for what seemed like an eternity. What did the Alpha desire? I prayed against hope that he wouldn't put us both up in the dungeon. The guard brought us inside the packhouse to a magnificent chamber when we arrived. Alpha Fenrir sat behind a massive desk, staring at us intently. In his presence, he exuded authority, and I couldn't help but feel small and inconsequential. "Selene," he frowned, "what are you doing here?" I merely asked for Freya, my life's love." The words lingered heavy in the air, creating a tense environment. I glanced at Freya, curious as to what was going on. "Yes," she softly answered, "I'm his Luna." "When did this begin?" "You are my friend; you are not supposed to do this to me," I said, my voice breaking.
