ETHAN REED
________________
The next day, I had english for first period. Many people stared and pointed at me. So much for going unnoticed.
I got a lot of glares from people, which was the opposite of what I wanted– negative attention.
It was hard for me to blend in with the rest of everybody because wherever I stood, people moved away. I wasn't really shunned in my previous schools the way I'm being shunned now. It definitely had something to do with Nicole Hamilton making me her b***h.
Our English teacher was a woman called Eve. Half of the class paid so much attention to her. Well, half of class was male and she had a huge rack, so put those two odds together.
She is categorised under those type of people who believed in the most absurd of things.
She believes in positive energy and unicorns. And her most fascinating of her belief is in angels.
"I believe that if a person gives you an angel in any form, you should never discard it. The angel is a means for your protection. Fate has sent it your way so that you may be protected."
Half of the class nodded attentively. Okay, they were not particularly attentive to what she had to say rather than what she carried on her chest.
"Oh, I even have one with me right now. It's name is Cassidy and it has the power to tell certain things about people."
"What kind of things, Eve?" A girl asked.
"Things like what your future holds, your past, secrets. Cassidy works in mysterious ways."
"Can I have a go?"
"Sure." She searches her desk and emerges with a sticker.
Pathetic.
"Okay, so I just place it on the palm of your hand like so." She then closed her eyes.
"Cassidy senses that you've lost someone in your family."
"Oh. My. Gosh yes." She gasped. "I lost my grandfather when I was six." The whole class coos in amazement.
I face palm. This was absolutely ridiculous, and a little sad. For Eve I mean.
"Wanna try too?" She asks me.
"Sure." I gave a fake smile. What do I have to lose anyway?
She places Cassidy on the palm of my hand and closed her eyes in concentration.
What delusional crap was she going to muster up now?
"Cassidy senses..." She furrowed her eyebrows. "Innocence."
She opened her eyes, smiled and waited for a reaction.
"Well, that was boring." Someone said from the back.
"Okay." She closed her eyes again. "You have a great mind. You have a soul of a child and an untouched body. You're giving off a vibe of purity."
She did not just say what I thought she just said. Maybe no one will notice what she just said.
The class was dead silent.
"The fresh meat is a virgin!" Chase shouted.
And the whole class erupted in laughter. And then, because Eve hacked it into the mind of every kid in literature class, the room begins to chant:
Virgin!
Virgin!
Virgin!
Why are this simple minded people my peers? Why did Eve have to expose this to everyone?
I mean it was obvious that I was one, but did she and Cassidy have to point it out to the rest of the class?
Couldn't she have pointed out something else besides my s****l inexperience? Like when my next birthday is? Or when it was my time to die?
Though I think that will be pretty soon.
"Okay everyone, settle down!" She said, finally doing her job.
"Guys, virginity is a privilege. It's nice to know that there's still a little bit of innocence left among you kids. You guys want to grow up too fast that you don't get to enjoy your days of innocence for too long. Instead of poking fun at him, you should learn from him."
"He could teach us, but..." Chase snickered. "...he wouldn't know. He's just a virgin." He laughed and so does the rest of the class.
Virgin!
Virgin!
Virgin!
I turned red, had a powerful urge to punch Chase right in his balls and to rip Cassidy into shreds.
"Stop this right now! I want you guys to apologise to Mary– I mean..." She leaned into me. "What's your name?"
"Ethan." I mumbled.
"Apologise to Evan." She crossed her arms.
I was a little bit glad she got my name wrong. At least no one out of this class will catch my name.
"Sorry, Virgin Mary." Chase laughed.
"I'm serious." Eve crosses her arms.
Nobody took her seriously.
I could tell because they started chanting again. This time Chase spiced up the chant.
Virgin Mary!
Virgin Mary!
Virgin Mary!
"Sorry Heath." Eve admitted defeat. "You'll be needing this for protection from now on." She handed me Cassidy before she went to her seat and put on her earphones.
I looked at Sakura but she did nothing but give a sympathetic shrug and watched the rest of the class go on with their chant.
I wish I had a stricter teacher.
I wish I never met Cassidy.
I wish I wasn't a virgin.

The rest of the day was complete s**t.
Turns out that my new name was catching on like wildfire.
It was really hard to stay incognito because every time I pass the hallway, some genius would call out my nickname and that would be the start of a mad house.
Lunchtime was even worse.
Since I was now an official outcast now, it was pretty hard finding a place to sit.
Especially since everyone was chanting my nickname and hogging the seats.
Sakura was seating with her friends and they had an extra seat.
"Hey." I shouted above the chanting. "Is this seat taken?"
"No it's all yours." She smiled.
I felt a rush of relief. It's nice to know that there's still a little bit of humanity left in the world.
Immediately I took a seat, everyone at the table left. Including Sakura.
So much for humanity.
I tried my best to ignore the chants and eat my lunch in peace. After lunch, someone had managed to smuggle condoms into my locker. That person was kind enough to leave a note for me.
This will get you started,
Virgin Mary.
Sincerely, not another virgin.
But the worst part was that at the end of the day, I got a meme running.
It was a Photoshopped picture of my mortified face on Mary's head. The resemblance between the two of us was uncanny.
If my life was this bad on the second day, I can imagine how bad it'll get when Nicole gets thrown into the mix.
I didn't see her all day, I guess that's a good thing.
