Remembering the past

Taine and I walked up an old staircase to the attic and he warned me of the broken planks I nearly stepped on.

“Sorry, it’s a bit dusty up here.” He said full of sympathy as he dusted off one of the boxes.

“A bit?” I laughed as I took in my surroundings. The attic had a small window which light shone through and landed on a pile of old photo frames. I picked one up and saw a black and white photo of the Orphanage in 1994 which made it 23 years old. I recognized a younger version of Anne holding a young boy and my aunt in the photograph. 

“Is that your brother?” I asked as Taine stood behind me.

“Yes, he was 2 then and would have been 25 this year. My mom was 19 then.” He replied and picked up another photograph. “This was taken before the accident.”

The boy was an older more mature version of Taine, but he had dark brown hair. He was standing next to a girl and they both were crowned Prom King and Queen 2010.

“After prom, that night my brother-Joshua, Vanessa (who was prom queen) and two of their friends got drunk and lost control of the car while driving over a bridge. They were too drunk to escape from the car before drowning, so there were no survivors.” Taine continued as he showed me a newspaper article on the accident. 

“I'm sorry Taine.” I touched his arm as he picked up another photograph of him and Joshua.

“It's okay. That night before he left to go pick up Vanessa, my parents and him broke into a fight because Joshua wanted to move away with Vanessa and marry her in a year or two. My mom said he was too young and my dad told him he was wasting his life, he stormed out of the house and found me in the treehouse we had built together. Joshua said that he loved me and asked me to look after mom and dad because he was leaving. I had no idea what he was talking about, so I just promised that I would then he left.” 

“Joshua loved you,” I added as Taine turned to face me. “Thanks.” His voice broke as I pulled him into a hug. Sometimes guys also need a girl to lean on. 

“What happened to us, Jane?” Taine asked as he traced my bottom lip.

“We grew up,” I replied

After the social Taine and I started to hang out more and we were really close. In the second term, we went on a school field trip and we stopped at a waterfall on the way there. Taine was first off the bus so I awkwardly walked alone at the back of the group.

“Hey, Jane!” Rocksyn had called out and pushed her way towards me. She looped her arm in mine and named most of the plants we walked past. 

A girl started screaming as we got to the waterfall and a group of people started gathering around the plunge pool, Rocksyn and I pushed our ways to the front to see what was going on. Taine clothes were soaking wet and he was lying on the ground. Our drama teacher was panicking and trying to move the group from crowding Taine. I started to cry as I watched Taine lie there, not moving. 

Rocksyn pushed me forward and I walked over to Taine crying and our teacher didn't seem to notice me. 

“Taine?” I stuttered and cried on his chest. 

“Jane, why are you crying?” Taine asked as he played with my hair. 

“Because you drowned.” I cried and looked up to see Taine smiling at me. “You're okay!” I gasped covering my mouth. 

Taine stood up and the group burst into gasps and confused looks. “Jane you care about me.” He smirked as our drama teacher tapped him on the shoulder and handed him a small white box. 

“This has your name written all over it,” Taine said confused as he handed me the box. My name was written on the top and I looked back at Taine for an explanation, but he just shrugged so I opened the box and I read a small hand-written note that said, Look at Taine.

I look back at Taine and he held a single white rose. “Jane after I met you at the social I fell really hard for you. My feelings for you are real… what I'm trying to say is Jane would you please be my girlfriend?” He asked. 

“Yes.” I stumbled as Taine pulled me into a hug and kissed me. He handed me the rose and told me to turn around. I did, and he moved my hair from my neck and put a necklace on me. It was a small diamond heart hanging on a silver chain. I smiled at Taine and he kissed me again, but our drama teacher told up to break apart. 

“This wasn't part of the deal Taine.” She winked at him.

“Sorry, ma’am I just can't get enough of her.” He smiled.

Taine loved the attention and wanted everyone to be talking about our new relationship for weeks, which did happen.

Rocksyn and I finally arrived at my apartment around 5. We spent the whole day at the orphanage! Rocksyn left soon afterwards.

I bathed, got ready for school and watched The Notebook. As I got up to turn the TV off I looked at the lock I got on valentines and read it again. I wonder who could have given it to me. Was it a warning or just a joke?

I woke up the next morning at around five because some stupid i***t kept hooting their car. I was so pissed off that I grabbed my g*n to scare them away, so I could go back to sleep. 

I opened the door and saw Taine smiling and waving at me with one hand while the other was on the steering wheel. That f*****g i***t!

“What the f**k Taine! It's five in the morning, I'm trying to sleep.” I screamed as I walked over to him.

“Whoa Jane calm down. Please also put the g*n down.” He gulped. 

“Why the hell are u here?” I demanded crossing my arms. 

“Don't shoot me.” He pleaded while looking at my g*n.

“I will if you don't give me a valid explanation.” I gave him an evil look.

“I couldn't sleep. You are constantly on my mind and I missed your company.” He smiled.

Awwwhh screw him and his charming words and adorable smile!

I rolled my eyes at him and laughed, “Get your a*s inside.”

He made us coffee while I quickly washed the sleep out of my eyes and brushed my teeth and hair in the bathroom.

“How did you sleep?” Taine asked as we sat on the couch. 

“Not enough thanks to someone,” I stated. 

Taine laughed then added, “So Jane what are you doing after school?” 

“I don't know,” I replied as Taine placed his hand on my leg. s**t, I'm still in my pyjamas. “Wait, I'm gonna get dressed quickly,” I mumbled getting up and walked into my room. 

What to wear, what to wear. I repeated over and over again. I pulled out a lace b*a and pantie and put them on. When the hell did Sebastian buy this? 

I heard a whistle and turned around to see Taine standing in the doorway. I threw the shirt I was holding at him then realized that was a terrible idea.

“Stop teasing me, Jane,” Taine smirked.

“Get out!” I yelled as Taine stepped into the room and took off his t-shirt. Holy f*****g s**t he's so hot.

“Better?” He asked walking closer to me.

I bit my lip and shook my head. “Stop teasing me, Jane. You've been doing that ever since I met you.” Taine closed his eyes and looked down, “Shit.”

“Looks like someone is awake.” I giggled and stepped closer to Taine, placing his hand on my a*s.

“Jane.” He stated through clenched teeth. I stood on my tippy toes and pecked him. I teased him like that four times then softly bit his bottom lip. Taine moaned and deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue into my mouth. 

We kissed for about 10 minutes then Taine started sliding his hand below my waistline.

“Get out.” I smiled breaking away from him.

“What? Why!” Taine asked confused as he tried to catch his breath. 

“I wanna get dressed,” I stated then pecked him again.

“I need to use the bathroom…” He muttered and quickly left. Boys will be boys I laughed. 

I decided to wear a jean mini skirt and a white top. “Taine hurry the f**k up.” I banned on the bathroom door after about 30 minutes. 

“Okay, just don't come in.” He answered. 

I rolled my eyes at him and went to make some cereal. 

“Could you please wear something else to school?” Taine inquired walking into the kitchen. 

“Why? Am I too hot for you?” I laughed as I purposely lifted my skirt a bit higher.

“You're annoying.” Taine laughed then took a deep breath.

“Stop being a baby, come have some cereal.” I smiled.

“Thanks for the lift.” I smiled as Taine opened the door and I got out.

“No thank-you kiss?” Taine frowned. 

“Not at school Taine.” I rolled my eyes at him while walking away. 

“No ways.” He snapped and grabbed my hand pulling me into him then kissed me.

“Taine!” I shouted after slapping him.

“Ouch.” He whined holding his hand against his cheek.

“Sorry!” I gulped stepping closer to him and then I kissed him. I'm so addicted to kissing him.

“You are a very confusing person.” Taine beamed as we broke apart when the bell rang.

Shit, I have to go to my locker. I remark slipping away from Taine. I literally ran to my locker than to the first lesson.

“You are late.” Mrs Jensen stated as I rushed into class.  

“Busy with Taine,” Gregory said as the class irrupted into laughter. I gave him a death stare and he quickly shut up. 

“Go sit down Miss Randall.” Mrs Jensen ordered. I quickly sat down, and the maths lesson began.

“So, Jane do you have anything to tell me?” Rocksyn inquired as we stood in line at the cafeteria that Thursday. 

“Ummm Mr Harvey was my partner today in Science,” I stated while looking at Rocksyn in confusion. She started blushing and looked away. “Rocksyn do YOU have something to tell me?” I remarked.

“Yes but shh we can't talk here. There are too many ears.” Rocksyn whispered. 

We walked to our table but surprisingly nobody was there.

“Talk Rocksyn,” I ordered as we sat down.

“Okay well, you know Gale and Jarrod started dating a few weeks, ago right? Remember I asked you to come with me to Dexter's party yesterday, but you said no because Freddy was going to be there? Anyways I went with Gale because it turns out Jarrod and Dexter are close friends. We were all outside and the wind was a bit cold, so I went back inside to fetch my jacket. Jarrod came in, so I asked him if he knew where my jacket was and he told me to follow him. We went upstairs and into what seemed to be Dexter's bedroom. Before I knew it, Jarrod pushed me onto the bed and started kissing me and I kinda sorta kissed him back.” 

“Rocksyn!” I shouted then covered my mouth.

“I know, I know. The guy sure knows how to kiss though.” 

“Well, players are good at one thing.” I interrupted.

“Please leave all comments until the end! Somehow Jarrod's top was off.”

“Don't tell me you f****d him!” I yelled.

“Jane shut the f**k up and no gross. He was about to remove my b*a when I heard a camera go off. Jarrod was instantly off me to try and grab the phone, but Freddy was too quick, so he got away!” Rocksyn covered her face embarrassed.

“Oh My Word! Does Gale know?!”

“I hope she doesn't. Oh, Jane what am I gonna do?” 

“Destroy the evidence- we will remove the photos from Freddy's phone before they leak out.”

“Neither of us is close to him so how do you plan on doing that?” 

“Freddy has a crush on me, so we can use that to our advantage.” I smiled as Rocksyn started to relax a little. 

“Thank you, Jane you literally saved my…” Rocksyn began.

“Rocksyn f*****g Macintosh.” Gales scream silenced the cafeteria. 

“Oh s**t,” Rocksyn muttered.
