Layered Defenses: Eliminating Every Blind Spot

375 Words
But this wasn’t enough. I decided to take security to the next level. Since the killer might already have their eyes on me, I had to make sure they had nowhere to hide and no tricks to play. So, I installed surveillance cameras at my door to keep every corner under my control. However, I knew that cameras alone weren’t foolproof. Anyone who’s read enough mystery novels knows that surveillance footage can easily be tampered with—fake videos and signal interference are all too common. If the killer managed to infiltrate the installation team, it would be like digging my own grave. To prevent that, I adopted a multi-layered protection strategy, similar to what I did with the renovation process. This time, I hired nine professional surveillance installation companies, dividing them into three groups of three. The process for each group was the same: one company was responsible for installation while the other two supervised the entire operation. This setup not only minimized the risk of tampering but also ensured mutual oversight among the companies. Before letting anyone into my home, I personally verified the identity of each technician. I even made them pull their masks down so I could inspect their faces carefully, ensuring no previous renovation workers were disguised as surveillance installers. After all, this kind of twist is a classic trope in mystery novels, and I wasn’t about to fall for it. The specific camera locations were all determined by me. The installations were done in stages, and after each group completed their task, I escorted them out without revealing any information about the work done by previous groups. When the next group arrived, I would tell them their assigned locations and retreat into my apartment to monitor their actions through the cameras already installed. This cycle repeated until the job was complete, ensuring no single group knew the full picture. In the end, nine companies installed six fully concealed cameras strategically placed at key positions. Now, there was no longer a single blind spot outside my door. Whether the killer tried to break in, spy on me, or sneak into the building, they wouldn’t escape my watchful eyes. Do you think this level of security is enough? Of course not.
