Chapter 30: The Fall (Maya) Maya arrived at the conference room on time and set the recovery sequence on the table. She left the door open and opened her notebook to a clean page. The extra effort it had taken to hold the line in the last session still sat with her. She had already decided she would give it no more attention than it deserved. Alex walked in a minute later and closed the door. He sat across from her and looked at the sheet without picking it up. The set of his shoulders carried the same controlled tension it always did. “Same sequence,” he said. “No adjustments.” “The data still supports the longer hold on the left side.” “I am not doing the adjusted version today.” Maya kept her hands still on the notebook. “Then the numbers will show whatever they show.”
