Edith couldn’t wait for the break of dawn as she tossed and rolled on her side of the bed. She heard when Ballister had entered the room and then the bed and also when he pulled her to him but instead of the usual warmth that always coursed through her whenever he was near, all she got was repulsion. She gritted her teeth, how could he live with himself? How could look her in the eye, smile at her, hold her and whisper those soothing, sickening sweet words at her knowing fully well that he didn’t mean any of them.
“Are you okay?” Ballister questioned as he felt how stiff she was when he pulled her to him. “Mm mmm.” She mumbled, pretending to be asleep so he wouldn’t bother her. He trailed his fingers on her skin while she fought off the impulse
