DINNER WAS LIGHT, AS usual. Warm up some green beans and meatloaf. Get some whole milk to wash it down with. In my sweatpants and a clean t-shirt, I left the futon as a couch. even though it wasn't flat, I'd gotten used to sleeping on it that way. In the winter I could burrow down into the blanket by the back cushion and stay toasty warm with all those full-size comforters doubled up on top of me. A fall breeze through the two open windows reminded me of how cold it can sometimes get at night. I shut the window over the desk just to keep dust off that desktop, a little bit, anyway. The more dirt I could keep out, the less I had to clean up. My motto, anyway. But us "confirmed" bachelors were never big on cleaning.
